About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Save some money for the next adventure :)

ABOUT ME

I'd like to think that I'm just a good honest guy that likes to like.. I like to get new experiences from all kinds of things, got lots of things to talk about and share, and always want to learn some more, spontaneous and in general try to enjoy life :) After more than 8 months of traveling I've learned that the best way to know places is by the help of local people.. so if you're around shout out for help! I would love to help others as I've been helped before, honestly, I'm a cool dude ;) I speak English and obviously Hebrew very well and usually have no problems to speak also quite good Spanish (8 months in Latin America.. got to learn some..)

PHILOSOPHY

Don't get me started, it could take hours, a teaser:
Be yourself!! think outside the box! try new things! taste new stuff! Enjoy this wonderful gift called 'life'!! don't follow the herd 'just cuz', and in another, more serious note, I think John Lennon's 'Imagine' should be adopted by humanity, borders and religions are the stupidest of ideas, just reasons for people to go out on war, we would be better off these things, two individuals that are so called 'enemies' could be best of friends, but the idiots on top dictate who we should love or hate, and it's twisted in my opinion, as for me, I'm like the law, everyone is innocent until proved guilty, meaning that for me everyone is the same, no prejudice, from the inside we're all made from the same stuff, as long as you don't hate me I have no reason to hate you back :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Host and being hosted, while knowing new people, learn and teach, isn't it what CS is all about?

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was guested several times while traveling, truth be told, I was lucky enough to meet friends and get connected by other friends and did not stay with a complete strangers (I did meet two CS friends via the site), as for hosting, first, I had two guests staying over at my place, again, not complete strangers, we had a vague idea about each other, later on I had the opportunity to host some CS members, really connected with some, not really with others, with that said, I'm really looking forward to host another new friend I haven't met yet, hey, this is why I'm on this site, right? and hopefully future guests would all be cool.

Interests

A very looooong list... but mainly I'd like to say that what interests me nowdays is to discover new things on a daily basis, and it would even be greater if those things and places couldn't be taught or found by the books.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies - Big fan!! such a big fan that I write screenplays and reviews by myself, for me, IMDb is the bible of cinema, usually I tend to watch high rated films, some of my favorites would be: 'Into the Wild', 'The Shawshank Redemption', 'The Green Mile', 'Forrest Gump', 'The Lord Of The Rings' trilogy, 'Snatch', 'Twelve Monkeys', 'Se7en', 'Inception', 'Mr. Nobody', 'Inglorious Bastards', 'Gladiator' and 'The Matrix', but the list goes on and on, a good movie that you go on and talk about it for hours after it was ended is one of those little pleasures in life for me.

Music - I listen to a lot of genres, mostly Rock (Folk, Indie, Blues, Southern, Grunge - Post Grunge included, Punk, Alternative, Acoustic and Classic, but please no growling for me), some Oldies (if it was good back in the days it's probably good today) and as a branch of my Movie loving I really enjoy listening to movie soundtracks.

Books - My favorite author without a doubt is the Japanese Haruki Murakami (red about dozen books by him), another favorite is Yuval Noah Harari, an Israeli history professor ('Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind', and 'The History of Tomorrow'), other than that I read mostly Israeli literature with a few other foreign books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think the Cuban experience is a very special one, I flew there from Mexico, it was just an hour away by plane, but when I got there it seemed like I was traveling 60 years back in time, it was the 50's all over again, the cars, the buildings, the music, and mostly - the lack of commercialism, all of those brands everybody is used to see in every other spot on earth (Coca Cola, McDonald's, etc.) were absent from the streets, no cellphones, no internet, I feel lucky to be there on time, before cuba would make that leap into the 21st century and close the gap.
and why do I feel lucky? one could debate for hours about the pros and cons of progress, when 'our' culture hits a virgin (or at least different) culture, is it good or bad?
Do we ruin something beautiful? in our perspective, yes we do, some would say that there are things that are better left untouched.
But do we have the right to decide for them? can we prevent them the things that come along with progress that we enjoy just because we think their lifestyles are unique?
I guess it's a great example of the gray area, the answer is not definitive.

Another great thing I've done was snorkeling with sharks and manta rays in Belize, the aquatic life is so different and amazing, the relaxation you gain simply by submerging is unexplainable for me.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Belize, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Cyprus, Ecuador, France, Guatemala, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Spain, Turkey, Vatican City State
