About Me

Former van-dwelling gypsy, explorer, business owner, and skydiver, looking for the next adventure and a place to call home. I'm not one for partying, but I'll stay up all night for a good conversation. Currently looking to connect with new people, see some new places, and maybe find my place in the world along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I don't have a couch to offer at the moment as I'm spending the year travelling, but will be happy to host when I find home, wherever home ends up being. Will be spending much of 2024 exploring Vancouver Island, with a couple of detours to Romania and the UK in the works.

Interests

I love to build and ride bikes, and spend a lot of time volunteering in Vancouver teaching folks how to fix their own bikes. I also teach folks how to ice skate. Along the way I've also been a carpenter, jeweller, and content writer.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'll listen to and read just about anything that Robert Evans puts out, and yes, I'm very bitter and jaded as a result. I tend to listen to podcasts more than I read these days, but I'll still pick up a Michael Pollan book, or a good book about farming. I love keeping up with US politics, that country is a very entertaining dumpster fire.

Music varies from jazz (Mingus, Duke, Grant Green) to metal (Zeal and Ardor, old Soikwork, Arch Enemy, Iron Maiden) to the occasional bit of rap, r&b, and pop (Aesop Rock, Roots, catchy synth song du jour). When I do watch something, it'll often be a wrestling documentary (Dark Side of the Ring) or Rupaul's Drag Race.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saved a life once. It's a fun story of drugs, trauma, broken glass, police, and running around naked.

Teach, Learn, Share

Have a bike that needs fixing? Maybe a household repair? Let me help! What's the point of having all these skills if I can't share them?

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook and will happily cook for you. I love nights of good food and good conversation, getting to know people, sharing ideas and experiences.
