Overview
About Me
I'm an artist and a graduate student living in Toronto. I'm doing an art research project this summer via epic roadtrip through the southwest USA. I'm an excellent cook, and would love to make a meal for you in exchange for a couch to sleep on.
I'm really interested in social and environmental justice and love a good conversation.
I write for art publications, and will be making lots of new work of my own this trip.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm excited to meet new people while travelling across America. I'm going to be camping a fair amount, but it's always great to take a break from the road to toast your own bread. I'm also producing a podcast along the way, and I'm making art in the landscape.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: On the road - and many things by Kerouac, various sci-fi (Jeff Vandermeer and Ursula LeGuin lately), Thomas Pynchon.
Music: some sort of spectrum with Charlie Parker on one end and Future Islands on the other. Thee Oh Sees, Animal Collective, Best Coast, Kendrick Lamar, Galaxy 500.
I understand French well (though am way out of practice), and am trying to learn German via audio CD on this trip.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once wrote hand-written personal letters to each of my 521* facebook friends as part of an art project. http://www.gilliandykeman.com/archives/156
This trip might just top it.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am always open to learning new things, and am game for helping out.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Cooking skills, a piece of artwork.
I've got great gardening skills.
I can probably fix your bicycle and teach you how to do the same.
I've worked in Canadian Ski resorts and know lots about both the east and west coast of Canada if you are thinking of travelling to either.
Countries I’ve Visited
