CURRENT MISSION

To create a mission for myself that drives me from within. I practice medicine currently in Santa Fe, NM and have found a niche and passion for wilderness medicine (medicine & wilderness)= philanthropist :)

ABOUT ME

I am from the land of enchantment or shall I SAY entrapment ;) in beautiful Santa Fe, NM. Since I was a kid I have loved playing outside and getting fresh air. If its outside chances are I will love it :) ahh fresh air: keeps my physical well being positive and connected. One of my favorite hobbies is trail running and whitewater kayaking. I've been running since I was 10 years old and ran xc in college which I loved! Spending time in the woods gives me a spiritual connection, feeling connected to something bigger and greater and that's Mother Nature. Both kayaking and trail running have taken me to so many beautiful places around the world. I've got to meet amazing people along the way and made great friends.
I studied Biology as an undergraduate because I've always been fascinated with the minute workings of our cells, our ecosystem, evolution, and global climate change. It's taught me to constantly ask questions, judge evidence, and solve problems which allowed me to pursue a career in medicine. I recently completed a fellowship in wilderness medicine and got the opportunity to practice this past summer in Yosemite National Park as well as be a part of Yosemite Search and Rescue team to respond to emergencies that occur in the Park. It was an experience of a lifetime! I hope in the near future to work in Yellowstone National Park and Everest Base Camp in Nepal, volunteer with medical relief missions in Haiti, Philippines to continue to combine my profession with my passion of wilderness medicine. :)

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy of life is to be kind, generous, helpful, optimitistic, and to live a healthy lifestyle. My personality is best suited to help others and to live life to the fullest with no regret later in life. Life is about growing, changing to make yourself and the world a better and more sustainable environment for all. The natural environment helps us recognize our oneness which soothes our spirit making us feel inspired and rejuvenated. Its an awesome feeling!!

I'm new to couchsurfing but love meeting new people from various backgrounds and diversities from all over the world. I am truly a people person :)

spending time with my shepard mix Atalaya (Atty for short) , outdoor activities including hiking, trail running, kayaking, mountain biking, snowboarding, etc

relaxing by a fire on a cold night reading, watching a movie or interesting documentary, walking in the city (I love walking), drinking wine, listening to music, yoga, eating yummy food (especially hot and spicy)--thats why I love NM-just can't get enough of our yummy chile!

rafted a class V river in Patagonia. Chile on the Futaleufu River--what an adventure and quite a memory of it all
Went to the Galapagos Islands and saw a flock of blue footed boobies..
