About Me

CURRENTLY TRAVELING AND UNABLE TO HOST.

Hiya! My name is Gina and I like sunsets and long walks on the beach. I also like sunrises, short walks to the fridge, and lots of other things- travel being chief among them. I'm originally from the U.S. but am now completing my MA degree in Modern Indian Studies in Germany. I'm hoping that through couchsurfing I can find hidden gems in the places I visit and come to understand them from a new perspective (yours!).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I view cultural differences as exciting, and have decided to approach them with the goal of understanding through active and meaningful participation. I’ve now lived, studied, and traveled internationally and independently for extended periods of time and faced challenges that range from struggling with foreign public transport systems (and finally succeeding!) to feeling frustrated with my status as a solo female traveler in certain areas. I’ve learned to be open-minded and optimistic through situations like these, and some of my most cherished experiences have resulted from wrong-turns and missed buses. I'm hoping that through Couchsurfing I can continue to foster connections and make this big ol' world feel a little bit smaller, one couch or conversation at a time.

Music, Movies, and Books

Tycho, Solange, Maggie Rogers, Beyoncé, Phoenix, Bonobo, First Aid Kit, and J.Cole are my jams.
Not a huge movie buff but I like Little Miss Sunshine, Lion, Monty Python, most documentaries, and international films of all kinds.
Too many books to name, I'm always looking for recommendations to add to my very long to-read list!
Currently reading: Investigations of a Dog and Other Creatures, Sour Heart, Ethics in the Real World, One More Thing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One time I ate two burritos at Chipotle in one sitting (and considered ordering a third). I've also been part of a Yosakoi dance team in Japan, jumped out of an airplane, and taken Samoan classes.
