About Me

I have spent the past 9 years travelling/working around the world! Most recently, I was living in Mexico and working as an English Teacher. Before that, I worked as a tour guide all throughout Latin America; Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Brazil! Before that, I also travelled throughout Asia and Australia.

As you can see, travelling is a big passion of mine, but more than that, I love learning about cultures and have spent much more time in the past few years integrating myself and learning more about the various cultures here in Latin America! Of course, I fell head over heels for Mexico, and it was my beloved home for a few years!

Now though, I have skipped back across the pond to Europe with my puppy (Milou) and we are living the Mediterranean life in Malta for a little while! I’ve gone back to University and am studying Linguistics and Chinese 😁!

If you are interested in anything more about me, check out my travel blog, it's a little bit out of date now, but there are plenty more photos! https://wandergina.wordpress.com

Please note: COUCHSURFING IS NOT TINDER; I am here to make good (friendly) connections, not sexual ones; please respect that :). I have always had fantastic experiences on CS, I don't want that to change.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've surfed so many times now; in Australia, Japan, Miami, New York, Colombia, Italy and many times in Mexico!

My experiences with Couchsurfing have been nothing less than fantastic! Since I learned about Couchsurfing I haven't really had a stable place to live as I have been travelling but I managed to host for the first time while living in Guanajuato and it felt amazing to be able to give back and also meet another amazing fellow couch surfer!

I think it's an absolutely fantastic way to meet people; it's actually become my sole way of meeting people while I am travelling and I have had the pleasure of meeting some amazing communities in various different cities and countries from LA, Miami, Playa del Carmen, Veracruz, Italy, Malta, NYC and more! There are always incredible stories to share and good times to be had!

I enjoy learning new things, specifically about new cultures and languages. Also the usual socialising and meeting new people!

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything and everything really when it comes to music! Chase & Status, The Beatles, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, LP, Oasis, Pink Floyd, Mon Laferte, Ed Maverick, The XX......the list goes on!

But reading more specifically, The Inheritance Cycle, A Wheel of Time, A Song of Ice and Fire, The Mortal Instruments, Outlander, His Dark Materials, and Divergent Trilogy....basically fiction but mainly fantasy fiction.

I like many movies and TV series, although I prefer to watch them with someone rather than alone. Some of my favourite series include Peaky Blinders, Dexter, Band of Brothers, So You Think You Can Dance, Game of Thrones, Orphan Black, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walked the Great Wall of China
Visited the Terracotta Warriors
Seen the Giant Panda's
Motorcycled down Vietnam
Kayaked Halong Bay
Ridden (rescued) Elephants Bareback
Watched a sunset on Hong Kong Island
Swam with Great White Sharks
Travelled Australia in a camper van
Swam with Whale Sharks
Became a certified advanced scuba diver
Volunteered in a school for impoverished Mayan children in Guatemala and lived in the jungle with them.
Jumped and swam at night in a bioluminescent river with the children at the school (probably one of the most magical and memorable moments in my life)
Finally learned a new language to a conversational standard - Spanish
Travelled for a living as a Tour Leader
Flew over and dived the Blue Hole in Belize
Hiked up 2 active volcanoes in Nicaragua; Telica & Concepción. Also hiked Acatenango in Guatemala for an incredible view over the neighbouring active volcano, Fuego! Possibly one of the most life-affirming sights I have seen.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach - I love to do language exchanges! I can also tell you about the wonderful places I have been and hopefully pass on some helpful tips!

Learn - Teach me anything, I will absorb it!

Share - Stories and anecdotes of life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my kindness, my stories, my passion for life and travel! I can also cook a mean Thai Massaman Curry!
