Overview
About Me
I thrive when I am outside my comfort zone. It compels me to grow and become a better version of myself. I am curious, extroverted and love cackling with laughter. My purpose is to serve others and I naturally support and encourage people to be the best version of themselves.
I study social work because it gives me the opportunity to make a difference. I work on myself to ensure I can give and serve as much as possible. Spirituality is important to me. I enjoy sharing faiths and considering various religious and spiritual perspectives.
I don't have all of the answers and learn something from everyone. We are all teachers.
In Australia I organise volunteer groups to work with those experiencing homelessness. Our purpose is to remind them that they are important and that we care. We simply sit and talk with them and provide simple necessities. I also help people seeking asylum through another volunteer organisation.
Jess (my best friend) and I will be studying at a university in Scotland soon and want to explore surrounding countries before we begin.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I couchsurf to learn about myself, human nature and culture. I couchsurf to open my eyes to alternative perspectives and broaden my horizons.
Interests
Traveling: I have traveled over 8 countries. Each country I learnt a different lesson about myself. India taught me about family and how important my loved ones are. Peru taught me about spirituality and that all religions have one idea in common: that God is Love. And the list goes on. I love traveling and learning about myself, others, and gaining a better understanding to this world.
I love exploring and finding the best native food. I love hiking, camping, swimming, reading and being in the outdoors. I love meeting new people and learning about their perspective of the world.
Whilst traveling I have learnt how to cook native foods of: Peru, Brazil, Italy, and Canada. You often find me in a different restaurants/pit stops/food markets asking locals about where to eat.
You will also find me most happy and at peace in nature. I grasp every opportunity to explore the outdoors: mountains, beaches, and secret havens. I enjoy cooking on open fires. One camping trip we even cooked an apple pie on the fire!
Spirituality is interesting to me. I have been seeking out God, or my form of God for the last 3 years. I am very open minded and I would love to hear your opinion!
Another interest of mine is writing. I am constantly found leaning over a notebook writing about my travel experiences/emotions/thoughts. Writing helps me understand and shed perspective on what has happened. It is meditative for me.
Music, Movies, and Books
This constantly changes. I read a lot of travel/explorer books, such as: Into the Wild, Shantaram, and Wild. I enjoy the genres: non-fiction, self help, and philosophy. Currently I am reading Orwell's 1984 novel.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I hitch hiked solo right across Canada- Vancouver to Montreal. Ask me to share a story with you :P
Teach, Learn, Share
Traveling has helped me realize that I am not the center of the universe. Travel has shown me that there are other ways to live, interact, and grow. Lastly, travel has revealed to me that we are all trying to figure out our Purpose in Life. It is not about the destination you reach, but who you are becoming in the process.
I can teach you to cook healthy delicious meals.
