About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Learn more, travel more, play more!
ABOUT ME
I've been in Brittany for 5 years, where I'm now working as an English teacher and translator. I play in a band too.
PHILOSOPHY
Live and let live.
Also, life is too short to just sit around--get out and go somewhere new!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
It's been awhile since I've had the chance to travel or host anyone, but I tell everyone I know about this site. I've hosted a few different people myself or with roommates over the past couple of years.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've surfed a handful of times - a weekend in Rennes, once in Bordeaux, a weekend in Montpellier, and a couple of separate trips to Nantes. I've made a few good friends this way!
Interests
Exploring new places - on foot or by bike. Playing guitar and singing - I love all kinds of music, from chanson française to pop and jazz and metal and... the list goes on. Playing video games every once in awhile - old games I never played growing up, as I don't have any consoles or anything. And definitely trying new foods and drinks!

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies - anything by Almodovar, Hitchcock... some French cinema too when anything gets recommended to me - I enjoyed Les Petits Mouchoirs and Intouchables a few years back (like everyone else...). But I'll watch almost anything. I love suspense/thriller/action films.
Music - pretty much anything, but especially jazz (above all, jazz guitar!), progressive rock/metal, classic psychedelic/blues (Jimi Hendrix, Cream) and even instrumental surf music. If you're a music fan, we'll definitely get along!)
Books - lots of things related to linguistics, grammar or translation. Other than that, I've been trying to wrap my head around the Dune series for ages. Finally getting into Game of Thrones from the beginning after seeing the last 2 seasons on TV. Trying to understand poetry a little more as time goes on, mostly French classics from different eras from Du Bellay up to Baudelaire.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Been to Paris. I know it's a huge, international city, but for me it was like being in a film. After seeing all the pictures, watching the movies, reading the stories about it, it's gained a sort of mythic status. Finally seeing the city with my own two eyes didn't dispel the feeling!
Teach, Learn, Share
What can I teach? -Linguistics, maybe? I know way too many random facts about different languages - some useful, some not so much.
-Music -I love jam sessions, teaching people songs, learning new songs, forgetting the lyrics and making up new ones.
Learn: -I love learning how to say things in other languages. Teach me a few choice expressions in your native tongue!
-Worldview. I came to France to extend my horizons and gain new perspective on life, after living in the same town for almost all of the previous 23 years before arriving in Europe in 2010.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I like cooking - I'd be happy to cook food with and for people. I'm no expert but I'm a fan of just about everything and I'd love to learn new recipes.
