About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Delving into Japanese culture and meeting people!

ABOUT ME

Ginny:
Hello! My name is Ginny. I'm from Hong Kong. I moved to the United States when I was a teenager. I met my husband in Hawaii when I was there for college. I love Music, Astronomy, and Geology. I enjoy anything that encourages spiritual growth, including traveling and meeting people around the world!

Oh! I don't really speak Spanish and Korean. I put them there because my husband speaks them and we usually travel together :)

Peter:
Peter here!
Gunna talk about Ginny first, since she's the main attraction in my life.
As you read from my wife's intro, we met in Hilo, Hawai'i, where we both went to school. By the time we met, both of us had developed a healthy appetite for travel and adventure. Although we are only a year and a half married so far, our relationship has spanned several countries, sometimes together, sometimes apart.

Together, we enjoy meeting new people, exploring nature, food (cooking and eating!), music, and looking for the unglorified, yet wonderful beauty of this world and the cultures of the people living in it.

On my own, I enjoy reading, playing guitar, watercolor, writing, intimate chats, and taking pictures. I have a passion for nature and biology and languages.

Japan is the third country outside of the US where I've lived and worked (legally). I've always wanted to come live here, ever since I was a little kid and Japanese exchange students stayed in my home.
What I love most about Japan: the people and their way of life, the language, the literature, the nature (and the Japanese people's relationship with it), and shochu :)

I can't wait to meet new people through couchsurfing! Let's see where the waves take us!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Through a friend of a friend who has CouchSurfing experience.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None so far! But I've had a similar experience when I was traveling around Switzerland by myself years ago; I saw this woman on the train, crying. So I went up to her and asked if she was okay. She told me that she had just seen her daughter off at the airport. Her daughter was going to Boston for college. Then I started crying too because I missed my mom (I was in college in Hawaii while my mom was in Hong Kong). So she ended up having to comfort me! >___< We talked for a bit more about ourselves and then she invited me to her home! I ended up staying there for the last few days of my trip! We're still keeping in contact now, and I'll be visiting her again next time I go back to Switzerland :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm music-powered :) I listen mostly (but not limited) to classical and electronica. Peter loves movies, especially the old ones such as Hitchcock's movies. He also loves reading and is recently addicted to the Game of Thrones series. I like movies as well, especially the ones by Iwai Shunji.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Toroko Gorge in Taiwan.
