About Me

My name is Gino, my hometown is Quito - Ecuador, and I completed my studies at Universidad San Francisco de Quito in the faculty of Law.

Ive been traveling around the word with family and friends. I love traveling, since I have a firm believe that traveling is one of the few things you buy, that actually makes you richer. In every journey or country I´ve visited I have always been intrested in having a little local experience.

I believe I am a fun to be around guy that can have a good conversation in various topics. I love soccer. I would say I am a soccer fanatic. My soccer Club is Juventus ( I know, its a team that loves to lose UCL finals). Recently I have been following closely the Barclays Premier League, since we started playing Fantasy PL with my friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I´m on couchsurfing because I want to enjoy new experiences and meet new people. Meeting new people is something fascinating since it gives you a broader perspective of the world. Traveling is great since it makes you understand that what you believed from reading school or university textbooks is very biased, you need to get out of your confort zone to really experience and try to understand the world. Every culture has fascinating aspects, and I like to understand how different cultures shape different views and realities. Once I read that life really begins outside your confort zone, in my perspective this phrase couldn´t be more precise.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have no specific genre, but the one I tend I like to listen is Indie/alternative rock. I have many bands I like, I have a spotify list with amazing indie music called Da Floresta Jams which if you like that music, you will certainly enjoy it.

Refering to books, I like to read biographies of influential and successful people (businessmen, soccer players, coaches, music, etc) such as Steve Jobs, Jack Ma, Pep Guardiola, José Mourinho, Andrea Pirlo, etc. I love reading History novels and in general terms reading novels. For 2017 I have set a personal goal, which I want to read at least 1 book/novel per month.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ive been lucky to experience several things I consider as Amazing. I am going to name the top 3 experiences that have really marked me.

1.- I attended the 2014 FIFA World Cup, held in Brazil. I travelled with my father and brother to support Ecuador and Italy during our stay. For me the most amazing anecdote despite the match result was singing the Ecuadorian national anthem in the Macaraná Stadium ( If you are a soccer fan like me, you can understand and relate the meaning this stadium has in soccer world history).

2.- I was invited to attend an International Annual Meeting held in Bali, Indonesia for a NGO I used to work. This NGO promotes and teaches children about peace through education. The NGO name is CISV and it is something truely amazing that I would be more than glad explaning over in a hangout. Despite the Annual Meeting, the amazing experience was backpacking around Asia with one of my best friends for 45 days. This was an amazing and enriching experience.

3.- I read a newspaper while floating in the Dead Sea and after that I had one of the most amzing experiences camping in the Wadi Rum Dessert in Jordan. I´ve never experienced such an amazing and filled with stars night as that one. It was something truely beautifull and magnificient to be in 2 hours into the middle of the dessert.
