ABOUT ME

I'm a 25 years old italian girl. I'm a social worker specialized in helping the victims of gender violence against women and children. I've been an operator in several shelters in Rome for 4 years. It is a tough job, both professionally and personally, and -unfortunally- very bad paid.. After I graduaded from my Master I realized I wasn't living but surviving, struggling with money and being in burn-out. I didn't want to feel that miserable at 23, so I decided to get a year off, a year to do something new, to do something for me, for my personal growth, and I moved to Australia. I worked and volunteered in Perth for a year, I improved my English, met wonderful people and got involved in unforgettable experiences, backpacked around Australia and spent a month in New Zealand travelling "solo". Before going back to Italy, I explored South East Asia for two months and I absolutely loved it.. the culture, the nature.. simply stunning! Once back home,I applied for a second Master in Social studies of Gender in Sweden, at Lund University,which I will start in a couple of months. After the application was sent and while I was waiting for the results, I went au pairing in Miami for a month, then I travelled around South America for 3 and a half months, and it was incredible. About my future... I can't wait to start studying again.. I would love to do a PhD after or to approach my former job from a new perspective. I don't know where, or when, or how, but even if it'is not defined, I'm sure this is my path, my purpose, my battle for life.
I hope to be able to combine my passion for travelling with my job and studies ambition.. I'll see :)

PHILOSOPHY

The love I give, the good things I do, the positive toughts I have, will come back in return in unexpected ways and times. No expectations, they ruin life's and people's surprises. Be always ready to learn, the relationship with knowledge and discovery is an ever-ending story.
The difficulties are part of human life and they allow me to know myself deeply.

Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing

I tried Couchsurfing as a guest and also to meet up with other travellers around the world and I loved it. As a guest I got to know so many amazing and generous people who hosted me as a friend and I am so glad I am still in contact with all of them. This platform is great and I used it for meeting new people while I was travelling by myself, it was great to share our stories and add new names to my list of genuine and incredible people I had the pleasure to meet all over the world. This community is enriching in so many ways, I can't wait to have my own home and be able to host as well!

Interessi

I love reading and writing. I like music and cinema. I love animals, I have a 18 years old cat, Lilly... she is like a sister to me.
About sports... I have been practicing synchronized swimming until I was 14, then I started my classes in ballet and contemporary dance and I have been involved as a dancer in a small contemporary company in Rome.
I was active in several voluntary associations in Rome that deal with social unrest and with promotion of youth participation through techniques of non-formal education for almost 10 years.
