About Me

Hello everyone! My name is Giovanni Ferioli or Gio for short. I am graduating from the University of Florida as a Computer Engineer in May 2022. I was born and raised in Miami, FL, and come from a Hispanic background, specifically, from Panama.

I’m interested in Nature, Cooking, and Learning useful skills. I am passionate about keeping our Earth clean. I enjoy taking care of plants or simple farming and taking nature walks/ hikes. For cooking, I love to cook in a way that I learn about the local culture while adding a healthy twist to my meals. Lastly, I like learning about random things that will be useful in my life. I’ve recently learned some car mechanics, house painting, and gardening.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My roommate got me into couchsurfing because I would accompany him as a sort of co-host. We would take our guests places around Gainesville, FL while enjoying our time together. From these experiences, I saw the beauty of meeting new people and making new experiences. I decided to take the leap of faith and make an account. Let's see where Couchsurfing takes me!

Music, Movies, and Books

Video Games: GTA5 because of the amount of freedom and things to do in the game.

Books: Ready Player One very good fictional book. A movie was made about it but in my opinion, the book is better.

Music: My favorite band, for now, is 21 pilots.

Show: Casa de Papel or Money Heist simply because of how much passion is shown in the show. It is also very intense in the sense that it is always surprising you.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I made a tool that helped a pediatric clinic, for people with no healthcare, deliver donations to their low-income patients. It helped with organizing all the deliveries to each respective driver. This was difficult to do because it's a traveling salesman problem but with the help of some libraries out there and some other algorithms, I was able to make this project work. In addition, the drivers would each get a personalized text message about who were their deliveries and a google maps link with all the deliveries assigned to an optimized path.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach about computers/technology, Math, Physics, Chemistry, and cooking. I am willing to learn life skills such as car maintenance, carpentry, and handyman work. I am also willing to learn about the local life of the place I am visiting. I can share experiences, stories, and knowledge with the hosts and/or other couchsurfers.

Countries I’ve Visited
