About Me

Hello, I am Giovanni, 21 years old, from Brazil. I currently live in Sydney, Australia since October/2014 and I came here mainly for studying reasons (2 semesters exchanged program on Mechanical Engineering, which i've been studying for 4 years already) and to improve my English language. By mainly I mean, of course i would not waste the chance of traveling on this beautiful country. And I've traveled a lot, indeed.
I am a Judô fighter, skateboarder, snowboarding lover, FPS games addicted, gymaholic, hikes enthusiastic, snorkeling enthusiastic, football master and Pokémon trainer (hahaha kidding, i wish).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm very interested in meeting local people, getting in contact with the place's way of living and learning about the land i am traveling thru.

Now, after completing my 2 semesters here in Sydney, it is time to go home and finish my degree. However, before going back I am going to Hawaii for 4 days/3 night and i am looking very forward to get in touch with Hawaiian culture.

Interests

Local culture, hikes, beach walks, surfing, outdoor activities in general. I always like to try coffee, beer and local food (not spicy though. My South-American taste for spicy food isn't well developed yet) everywhere i go.

Music, Movies, and Books

- Favorite music is a complicated thing, it's always changing. Nonetheless currently, i'd say it is "Walking Under Stars - Hilltop Hoods" or "Yellow Brick Road - Eminem". I am a pretty eclectic person, i like rock, rap, heavy-metal, electronic in general and even some jazz.
- Movies: i'd say all the Hobbits and The Wolf of Wall street.
- Books: the Inheritance Cycle - Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr and Inheritance.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

23 days (8,000 km) of free-camping road trip thru the Australian West Coast, the most rural and untouched places in Australia. I reckon it was amazing mostly for 2 reasons: it was an extreme change to the way i was used to travel and live. Traveling with only the very necessary, watching the western sunset everyday and getting in touch with the original Australian culture was beautiful. Second thing was the starred skies during the completely darkness of the nights. Breathtaking!

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to talk about politics, business and traveling. Yeah, I know it may sound a little weird, but i am not kidding, I just enjoy hearing people's points of view and understanding the environment they are immersed in. Which means i love to learn about these same topics and maybe add some cool knowledge to my listeners too.
I can also teach some Portuguese, the basics of skateboarding, some Judô tricks and some 'Strayan slangs mate.
I'd love to learn how to surf properly if it's a possibility. I've tried a couple of times, not a huge success though.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Besides stories and smiles, I am completely ok with sharing some costs. I'd feel very happy in cooking for my hosts (even though i am not a great cooker, i can try one of my Brazilian receipts or something i've learnt in Australia - unfortunately i don't think i can provide the experience of trying Kangaroo or Crocodile meat). I am a clean person, thus cleaning my mess would never be a problem. I'd love to share my free time with my hosts if they are available.
