About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To have fun and to meet people that want to join my mission.

ABOUT ME

I'm a pretty outgoing person, and that surely helps me with my job. As a tour guide I'm used to be around people from all over the world and I truly enjoy using my education as an archaeologist to talk about the city that I like the most in the world: Rome.
After I finished school I realized immediately that in archaeology there's a lot of past but no future, and so I started working as a tour guide. After a few months that I spent working for other people I started my own company: we give personalized tours in Rome and other parts of Italy (www.roadstorome.biz).
Even if I'm a tour guide, I still love digging and I usually take a month off in August to dig in Orvieto, a lovely city 1 hour north of Rome.
I love music and I'm a bass player, currently without a band...I also like writing and I'd like, at some point, to become a professional writer, but I think that I still need some time for that even if I wrote some short stories (one of the has been published on my facebook page as a note).
I love traveling and I hope that, as a couchsurfer, I can get the best out of any trip.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is short. As one of my favorite greek poets said: "the day is a finger". You have to bite it!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to offer my couch to anyone who needs a cool place to stay in Rome (I live in Testaccio, really close to the center, 10 minutes walking from Trastevere) and, when I don't work, I will be happy to take my guests around the city, showing them the highlight and mostly the sights that are off the beaten track. I have a really good knowledge of bars and clubs too, so I think that I can be as useful at night as I am during the day.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I really enjoy spending time with couchsurfers,no matter where or when.

Interests

I like to listen to music and to play it: I'm a bass player but I can play the drums and the keyboard a little as well. I love reading and I read a lot, both fiction and non fiction books, and comics of course.
There's no need to say that since I'm an archaeologist and a tour guide I love exploring archaeological sights and to go to museums, exhibits etc. I also like going to movies, to theater shows, concerts and almost all the cultural activities that can enrich me in one way or another.

Music, Movies, and Books

It's impossible to list the movies that I like. I guess that my guests and my hosts will discover it by talking to me.
It's the same as far as the music, but I can name at least Radiohead, which is my favorite band. I love lots of rock bands from the 60s, 70s, the 80s etc, like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, the Doors, The Rolling Stones. At the moment I'm more interested in trip hop music (Portishead, Massive Attack). I like also jazz and classical music. I have an old passion for heavy metal but I don't listen to it very much anymore.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Probably the most intense activities in my life are the archaeological digs. Even if I dig pretty much always in the same sight (Orvieto), this is one of the most important excavations in Italy, and the things that come from the underground are often surprising, beautiful or extremely interesting. A dig is an incredible experience that everybody should try at least once in his life.

Teach, Learn, Share

My biggest contributions as a host is my background in art history and archaeology, and of course my knowledge of the city or Rome. I like to cook as well so maybe you'll get a tour guide and a cooking class.
