ABOUT ME

I am an evolving man merged with simplicity. My mind is a confluence of hundreds of ideas and emotions. As a hobbyist, I am exploring the renaissance of my era. I am gaining wisdom through new experiences. I love my solitude as much as the company of warm hearted people. When I breathe I like to fill my body with the beauty of life and its abundance. Simple things make me happy such as feeling the rains or listening to the sounds of nature. I live without expectations. I have learnt that complete acceptance and kindness towards others is the easiest way to find happiness.

PHILOSOPHY

When I travel, I keep my backpack as light as possible. I applied the same principle in my real life. I let go of most of my materialistic possessions and unwanted thoughts which were holding me back and then what I experienced was true freedom. Social proofing has made us chase cars and live a life to buy expensive stuff which we do not need. True wealth, wisdom and the essence of the human spirit comes from new experiences. One of the ways to do so is by travelling and interacting with new people which widens the horizons of our faculties. I live in a small 150 sq.ft room now and I found my happiness and contentment in this small space which I am willing to share with others too.

I have travelled extensively from the tribal lands in Chattisgarh to the modern cities in India and what I have received back from the people everywhere was pure, unadulterated LOVE. This led me to believe that the world is full of happy, helpful and beautiful people. If I keep my heart full of positive thoughts, ideas and emotions; goodness will inevitably find a way towards me.
I try and keep myself as 'present' as possible without having any futuristic mega-plans or any past regrets. I believe in following my own rules and being truthful to myself rather than following a book or religion .

I wonder what Happiness is. Ego centric happiness is evanescent. One doesn’t have to do something or be someone or achieve something to be happy. On the contrary, I have observed that letting go of everything including our egos leads to a lot of freedom and happiness. It is a state in which one is at complete peace and harmony with oneself and would like to spread this wave of positive energy to others too by doing good to them. The world looks mesmerizingly beautiful when we observe everything including ourselves in a non-judgemental way and accept everything completely with a open heart. Simplicity, no expectations and complete acceptance are the keys.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At present I am participating in C.S by hosting a bunch of different people from various walks of life. I have understood through my experiences that travelling is not about seeing new places; it’s all about making new memories. The background only sets the rhythm but the company makes the melody. I had done a trek a few years back in the Himalayas. I do not remember how it felt when I reached the peak but I do remember the warm people I spoke with in the entire journey.Exchange of ideas and emotions is priceless.

When one is a traveller of time and space, nothing is constant. Even when life appears to be stoic; there is always an element of intangible transition. Usually after a long journey one goes back to their land of origin, following which priorities change and life goes on. Time and new experiences change everything. I understand when connections are lost and I accept that gracefully.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When I joined C.S I was just like a pair of fresh white socks.I have hosted and I have met a lot of people now(2013). I have met some wonderful people who helped me understand how life is different in their countries and who have enriched my life with their friendship/company/ideas/lifestyle/skills and with whom I have developed a deep and strong affection. I had such good times and such good memories with them that I feel overwhelmed when I think about them.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music
I usually travel with lots of music hence a lot of my memories are associated with music. Listening to a vague Led Zepplin song in a cafe in Delhi could remind me of a trek I did years back in the Spiti valley or listening to a Nick Drake song could remind me of the shores of Palolem. I could imagine the warmth of the sun there ,the sea waves touching my feet and the thick air just by listening to a song.
I have been exploring various genres of music since a very long time now but there are days when I prefer silence over music and choose to be 'comfortably numb'.

Movies
At times,I find myself lost in the world of movies.When I am watching a movie,I am not simply watching the movie. I am 'inside the movie'.Movies give me a crude medium to understand different cultures.I am fond of German,Scandinavian,Iranian and French Cinema. Its amazing how fictional characters can create a new alternative reality.I like well scripted,dark movies with good soundtracks.The central protagonist and the way the camera moves also plays a very vital role.

Novels
Reading is something I like doing even though I haven't read much in the past few years.I find new ideas and concepts fascinating.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

So far my travels have been amazing and I have met many beautiful people on the way.Maybe the best is yet to come.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some basics in Guitar,Lawn tennis,Badminton,Pingpong & Cycling.I can give you awesome movies to watch on your mp3 player while you are travelling.:-)
