Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

To laugh hard every day

ABOUT ME

I've worked at the zoo, sold ads for the yellow pages, written newsletters at a library for the blind and been the person inside a big plastic Lotto ball at a fairy. I have a dolphin tatooed on my chest, once broke both arms at the same time, always cry when I watch E.T., and every summer I work in a bar at a festival and dont sleep for five days but have the biggest blast of the year. And then I'm in love with my job as a travel journalist. Every day I thank someone (usually my boss :-) for letting me lead a life where I get paid for going to all kind of places all over the world and trying all kind of things and meeting all kind of people. Horray for dream jobs.

I'm very down-to-earth and openminded to most things. Spontaneous, independent and a little bit restless at times. And then I value humour highly. I think being able to take an easy and humourous approach on things that go wrong is important - even missing two planes in the same day because of naps at the wrong time at the airport can be laughed at. Really. At least afterwards :-) And then there is no better way to deal with boring stuff or akward situations than with humour (and coming from me it might sometimes be the sick or ironic kind...)

Like everyone else I'm not sweet and smiley and cracking funny comments around the clock, from time to time the bitchy and hot-tempered side of me shows its rotten face, I cant keep my mouth shut when someone is being an idiot - to me or to others - or just plain stupid. Despite that I'm not the type to make a big fuss of myself, I'm usually the listener more than the talker. It fascinates me to hear other peoples stories, those of old friends as well as new.

My job often takes me to spa resorts and luxury hotels, which I would be a spoiled cow to complain about, but as much as champagne and five star restaurants is great, I feel particurlarly happy when I get to go to places with few other people, where the foremost colour in the surroundings is leaf-green, rock-grey or ocean-blue, and where the accomodation is basic and the focus is on doing things in the outdoors. I'm not a professionel outdoor anything - except in trekking if there is such a thing as being a pro within that :-) - but am totally thrilled by the sports in the air I've done, and have recently just started rockclimbing, after I tried it for fun and discovered that hey, here's another view on the mountains than just from the tracks.

At home I'm a citygirl, live in the middle of it and used to work as journalist for a Copenhagen cityguide. I thrive on the city-vibe - and when I get enough of all the hussle and bussle I put on hiking boots and seek refuge in nature. (or stay inside my apartment and read books..)

Other than that..? Ask. :-)

PHILOSOPHY

One of the things I fear the most is to be 95 and look back at my life and regret never doing this or trying that or following this dream and living out that passion.

I believe in rather trying and failing than not trying at all. (adultery, burglary and murder not included)

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None so far. Have only just heard of it. But have lots of unofficial couchsurfing experience as guest and - especially - as a host..

Intereses

I love the outdoors, the more remote and especially mountainous the better. I do camping, trekking, have just started rockclimbing, and when I travel I prefer places where I can also do paragliding, skydiving or bungee jumping. I'm a sucker for wildlife (well, all animals actually - and spiders dont count!) - and dream of going to Antarctica to see the penguins in real life.
Other than that I like parties, fun, friends, long talks, games, books, sunshine and trying things I have never done before - like walking on stilts, learning photography or making my own sushi.

Música, películas y libros

I read everything, newspapers, magazines, websites and tons of books, from Mein Kamp to Candace Bushnell. Movies - yes, occasionally, and music - yes, I listen to it, but am not enough into it to always know what I'm listening to...

Algo increíble que he hecho

Many - one of the most the memorable ones being when I worked as a volunteer in an animal rescue center in Ecuacor.
