Overview
About Me
I am thirty years old dynamic and open-minded individual currently running a community based organization in a rural village in Kenya. I am a graduate of Bsc. Meteorology and thereafter in Agroecology in University of Calcutta in India, Currently pursuing MA Environmental Planning and Management. Being from a farming community, the rural life and farming activities are very central to my life. As a young university student I preoccupied myself with how farmers (poor mostly) can really adapt to climate change that they contributed very little to and how there can be justice and fairness in prices of agricultural commodities.
The above thoughts gave birth to Community Action for Nature-Kenya (CAN-K), which was envisioned as a farmer’s organization which was to help address some of the issues affecting farmers and the general public. Through the organization and farmers efforts we have implemented many initiatives like soil and water conservation, agrobiodiversity preservation, food and health. But more was need I realized, especially on macro issues inter alia Policies, WTO, land grabs, governance and food politics. The issues are beyond the farm or fields where farmers work and need a more radical approach, that of patience, fearlessness, prudence and factual.
