À propos de moi

* I’m NOT looking for someone to hook up with so if you are please move on - this isn’t Tinder!*

I am a travel-addicted archaeologist! I grew up in Italy then moved to the UK at 18. While at uni I got the travel bug and started solo travelling as much as I could. When I'm at home and broke I work for a small group of museums, daydreaming about travelling and saving for my next trip (I also really enjoy my job though!)

I enjoy good conversations and getting to know people, but I’m definitely a quiet person, not at all a party animal. I love history, photography, nature, hiking, being near the sea and discovering beautiful places, the more remote and unusual the better - I believe beauty is everywhere.

When I am not travelling or planning to travel I spend a lot of time reading, hiking, going to the cinema, cooking, eating, and talking about food...

I have shared homes ever since moving out of my parents' house, and when I work on archaeological sites I live AND work with the same people 24/7, so I am fully house trained, considerate and used to sharing with others.

I am currently on my longest trip yet and have been travelling for a little over 7 months through South East Asia and New Zealand.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I am hoping to find hosts in a few of the places I am planning to hit during the rest of my NZ-Australia trip. I have used similar websites to find homestays, work-for-accommodation etc, and they have worked well but are meant for stays of more than a day or two. I've really enjoyed meeting locals in some of the places I have visited, and I have been thinking about trying Couchsurfing for a while, and a long trip like the one I'm on at the moment seems like the perfect time to start. Also, when you travel solo a lot you start to really miss human interaction!

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Books - Possession, Vanity Fair, Heart of Darkness, almost anything Isabel Allende ever wrote, Going Postal by Terry Pratchett, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, His Dark Materials trilogy, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones (the books not the series!) and generally anything fantasy

Movies - The Concert, Everything is Illuminated, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, anything John Hughes, North&South, period dramas of the Jane Austen persuasion, and quite a lot of other things that have nothing to do with the above (ie Tarantino)

Music - I like a lot of different stuff. If you saw my ipod, you'd probably think I have multiple personality disorder... but generally, I watch a lot of movies, so I listen to a lot of movie soundtracks.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I’ve spent months at a time working on archaeological sites in various countries in the Middle East - it's a very different way of life and one that I enjoy experiencing again and again whenever I can.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

Not sure I understand what I'm supposed to do here!

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

Proper, home-made Italian food lovingly cooked by myself

My ability to talk about food while eating, making myself and everyone around me even hungrier

Lots of weird/funny/ridiculous stories from the several years I have spent digging in the dirt with a spade, a trowel, a toothbrush and a dental pick in several out-of-the-way parts of the world

And generally other weird/ridiculous stories of things that happened to me during my travels, and that only happen to clumsy people who have a bad sense of direction yet insist on walking everywhere

Travel tips, especially for the parts of Europe I have seen/lived in

A well stocked library of movies and books that goes everywhere with me
