About Me

uh, that's difficult. I am a Postdoc and former PhD student doing structural Biology of Alzheimer’s and neurodegeneration in a Chemistry department, but with a bachelor and master in theoretical high-energy physics...

so...yea..."Not a dog. Not a wolf. All he knows is what he's not." (cit. Balto) XD

ABOUT ME

I like jokes a lot and I love food, manga, cute stuff and nonsense. And science!
Oh, and cats!!! I am so in love with cats!

CURRENT MISSION

Finding the answer to the ultimate question about life, the universe and everything...and eventually completing my PhD.

>The answer is 42.

Damn, I must get a grip on my PhD then... -__-'

PHILOSOPHY

Stay child, stay amazed!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I would like to make friends all over the world and discover the culture of the country I am visiting...Or let people discover the italian one!

(And since my memory is incredibly bad, the only way of sticking new cool cultural/historic/linguistic/whatever stuff into my head is by meeting people who are grown with that and are willing to tell me a lot about it! )

Interests

Japan first. Japanese culture, Japanese language, Japanese mangas and Dorama.
Then cooking! Italian traditional or typical cooking especially.
And of course volleyball and beach volleyball!!! I love playing it!!!!!!

Theatre plays, musicals and travel too (but that is less feasible due to the PhD..)
Oh and I love cats. Dogs are also very nice, but cats are the best!

Music, Movies, and Books

All types of music, most favourites probably are Disney soundtracks along with Disney movies.

Science fiction movies, with the top being the Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, (which is also in the top list of books).
Fantasy and comic books, nonsense-books, famous pieces of literature and MANGAS.

Best books ever, listed according to what comes up to my mind!

1. The Neverending Story (M. Ende)
--> and Momo! Ende's writing is so clever, thrilling and moving that I can't help but love nearly all his books.

2. Harry Potter (J.K. Rowling)
--> Guess it doesn't need an explanation, does it? :)

3. The Story of A Seagull and The Cat Who Taught Her To Fly (Luis Sepulveda)
--> along with the newest ones, "Historia de Mix, de Max y de Mex" and "Historia de un caracol que descubrió la importancia de la lentitud", every time I read his books I feel I'm both a child again and a grown up at the same time ^^

4. The Master and Margarita (Mikhail Bulgakov)
--> This book is pure nonsense. So damn good!

5. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (all but the last)
--> I was nearly forgetting one of my favourites ever!!! See? I told you that my memory is awful, sheesh...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jump from a cliff of about 10 meters into the sea in Greece. I suffer from vertigo a lot, so there is no way in the world that I could have done something like that. But I didn't know and I couldn't escape when it happened, so I had to do it. Very scary, but amazing!

Also had my first real hike on a 3000+ m volcano at night to reach the peak in time for dawn. Just as scary as the jump but what a sight afterwards!!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can try (and love to) to teach Italian, and a bit of my regional dialect and culture.
Especially when it comes to food and food recipes.

I want to learn Japanese! And too many other stuff too

What I Can Share with Hosts

For sure good italian food!
And a bit of Italian and regional culture and sense of humour. :D
