About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME

Easy enough trying to say in a few words something about me ;)I have been trying to understand who I am, what I like and don't like in the past 24 years, realising mostly that I'll never go too far with this understanding.

I studied Anthropology in Ireland and Spain, and I am currently travelling in South America. I am from Italy and, as you might have noticed, I don't mind moving. :)

I am an independent person, with a sunny attitude and critical perspectives. I always try to put myself into other people's shoes -just theoretically, don't worry!- ...despite the headaches it may give, it's normally a very rewarding habit.

'My' adjective, then, would probably be curious.
I strongly believe that it is always possible to learn something whenever, wherever and from whoever.
I tend to look for new experiences and strong emotions, both in a passive way -reading a book, watching a movie, listening to music- and in an active one- exploring beautiful landscapes, dancing as a fool, partaking into situations that are alien to me and having meaningful conversations with people.

Filtering inner and outer world, words are my passion: they'll never render the mysterious and intimate nature of things, but while trying, they can truly be magic.

I also love food and drinks... I am sure they taste better when shared, bringing naturally people closer.

Finally, as everybody, I value beauty and I try to see it wherever I can... that's also why I can appreciate any kind of space- apart from shopping malls... they are definitely ugly, that’s it.

PHILOSOPHY

In learning about yourself, you learn about the world. In learning about the world, you learn about yourself. ...Remember to enjoy the experience!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I find Couchsurfing an absolutely fascinating system. It shows that solidarity isn't just a word and it proves that people can be interested in getting to know each other.
Some of the most interesting people I got to know recommended it to me... so, I felt it was time to do it!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have never been hosted officially as a couchsurfer, but I have been a guest in many, different situations.
Last year my housemates and I decided to render available our couch... hosting friends all over the year, we did not have the chance to have anybody else though... When I'll get back to Ireland, next year, the plan is to do it again and this time properly!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: the ones for which Charlie Kaufman wrote the screen play (Being John Malkovich, The Eternatl Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, Adaptation), Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain, Harold and Maude, El dia de la Bestia, Life of Brian, Vanilla Sky, Benigni's movies, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and so on...

Books: well, that's difficult. I mention just a few: El Aleph, by Borges; Dangerous Angels, by Francesca Lia Block; Oceano Mare, by Alessandro Baricco; Bible Stories for Adults, by James Morrow; Heart of Darkness, by Joseph Conrad...

Music: mostly, the good Italian one (songwriters like Capossela, De Andrè, Mannarino, Gaetano, bands like Negrita and composers like Einaudi), but also Yann Tiersen, Manu Chao, Goran Bregovich... what I can enjoy to dance or pure poetry.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Tadaaaan, I don't know what to choose. Not because I am always doing fantastic and crazy things, but mostly because I think that every experience can be exceptional with the right mood.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach Italian. Spanish and English.
I could talk for ages about cultural differences, 'using' what I learnt through life and studies.
I try to learn as many things as possible, but I wrote it already too many times.
I love sharing experiences, and I don't mind sharing objects. :)
