About Me

CURRENT MISSION

growing up - not too much though

ABOUT ME

All about me?? that's scaring and makes my brain go blank... I can say people usually think I'm pretty easy to get along with, and sometimes funny. I love laughing, I like having people around and I can spend the whole night dancing - I can also spend the whole night reading but most of the times I spend it sleeping, honestly.

PHILOSOPHY

precariousness, self-irony and joy of living

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host when I can. And I can cook pasta for my hungry guests and hosts.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

have been hosting and being hosted for a couple of years now, and I think CS is great!

Interests

dancing, reading, friends, food (cooking, but mostly eating), skiing, learning languages and travelling, travelling, travelling.
something more:
- I'm curious about different types of food and I can eat pretty much anything - from salad to grasshoppers, just to give an idea...
- I've been taking african dance classes in the last 3 years (much better than the gym), I did a bit of salsa and a bit of tango - and that's the "serious" part. On the the "fun" side, when I'm a bit drunk just tip your fork on the table and I'll probably start dancing.
- When it comes to sports I'm pretty lazy and absolutely useless, but I'll do anything for a ski day- apparently it's the only sport I can manage.Ah, and I hate snowborders - just on the slopes, hey!
- I'm a compulsive reader, but totally irregular: can read 3 books in a week then nothing for a month.
- I love learning languages. I'd like to practise more my French and Portuguese to improve them. I'm also looking for a Japanese course; I attended a small one in the past but I can just introduce myself and order some food...

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm more into books and music than movies and I'm totally ignorant about tv series and tv programs

Books: i can read almost anything - some of my favourite authors are: Murakami, Wu Ming, Coe, Vargas, Grossman, Amado, Austen, Marquez, Benni, Pennac, Camilleri, Yourcenar, McEwan, Saramago, Carofiglio, Vonnegut (if you wanna know more: http://www.anobii.com/giulik/books)

Music: depending on the mood. Anything you can dance: ska, patchanka, rock, balkan, gipsy, african, latin.. or anything you can sing: such as the italian singsongwriters I grew up with (De Andrè, De Gregori, Conte, Dalla, Silvestri..

Movies - I usually prefer european movies (one for all: Almodovar) but sometimes there's nothing like a Hollywood comedy - especially if there's George Clooney in it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

few years ago I quit my job and my life in Italy and went to Australia for 1 year.
I volunteered for few years in a centre for trafficked women in Florence. It was an inspiring and enriching experience, and fun too!
I completed my mission of doing white water rafting in all the 5 continents - looking for the next one, any idea?

Teach, Learn, Share

Learn: anything! if I have to chose something in this moment I'd like to learn about cooking - especially asian food (I love it but I have no idea how to prepare it!) and japanese language
Teach: I can help with italian cooking and language
Share : food is a great part of our cultures.. let's share it!
