Giulio De Leo
I was born in Ruvo di Puglia (Ba), on May 3rd 1973
I'm married with Rossana and I live with her and Giordano and Naima, our children.

Education
1994/97 he attended Teatro Kismet Opera’s atelier in Bari directed by Teresa Ludovico with Marco Baliani, Mas Soegang, Cesar Brie, Danio Manfredini, Simone Sandroni, Giorgio Rossi e Raffaella Giordano.
1997/99 he improves his studies at the dance theatre atelier of Dramatic Art School Paolo Grassi in Milan and at Folkwang Hochschule in Essen (Germany).

Theatre production
1995 – He participates to the show Van Gogh by Luciano Nattino, for Casa degli Alfieri Company, Asti.

1996 – He is interpreter for Teatro Kismet Opera in Bari in Peter Pan (finalist for Premio ETIStregagatto '97) by Teresa Ludovico and in the repertory show Cappuccetto rosso by Carlo Formigoni.

1997 – He works with the Basquet threesome Achiary-Etchecopar-Schwartz in Les labours de mai. He is interpreter in Macchabée by Vincenzo Toma for Teatro Kismet OperA in Bari.

1998 – interpreter for Associazione Sosta Palmizi danza in Spara alla pioggia, choreographies by Giorgio Rossi.

1999 – Author and interpreter in Gocce, choreographies by Monica Bianchi, a KalòKalò production supported by Associazione Sosta Palmizi and Teatro delle Briciole of Parma.

2000 – He is interpreter for Teatro delle Briciole in the repertory show L'Accalappiatopi (Biglietto d'Oro in la Prosa 1989) by Maurizio Bercini. He is assistant directior for Vincenzo Toma in A la Carte.

2001/04 – Co-operates with Associazione Sosta Palmizi as interpreter in Senza Titolo by Raffaella Giordano. For Teatro Kismet of Bari he is interpreter in Gilgames by Teresa Ludovico and co-operator in choreographies in Che Accada! by Rossana Farinati.

2004/05 – Interpreter in Passi by Virginia Heinen for Blicke Dance Company of Parigi.
In co-operation with Teresa Ludovico he directs the project Teatro e Handicap for Teatro Kismet OperA. He is choreographer and direction assistant in Il compagno di viaggio by Teresa Ludovico for Teatro Kismet OperA.

2005/06 – Assistant choreographer for Giorgio Rossi and interpreter in Il principe porcaro comic opera in three acts by di Nino Rota for Fondazione Lirico Sinfonica Petruzzelli and Teatri in Bari. In co-operation with Teresa Ludovico he directs the project Teatro e Handicap for Teatro Kismet OperA in Bari.

2006/07 – Assistant choreographer for Virgilio Sieni in Teatro NO produced by Compagnia Virgilio Sieni and Teatro Kismet OperA. Teatro NO was performed in an old gymnasium by four aged men in Carrassi, one of the most tipical quartier of Bari city.

He directs the project Teatro e Handicap for Teatro Kismet OperA in Bari.

He writes and interprets, in co-operation with Marta Lucchini Danze di neve, danced tale produced with the support of Teatro Kismet OperA in Bari and performed in the rooms of Giovanni XXIII Children Hospital in Bari.

2007/08 – Direction and choreography of La prima classe for Teatro Kismet OperA in Bari, dramaturgy by Teresa Ludovico.

He co-operates for scenic dramaturgy in La rosa bianca by and with Raffaello Fusaro for Giugnozerocinque of Roma.

He starts Compagnia Menhir with who performs Danze di Neve and produced, with the support of Teatro Curci in Barletta, Chicco Radicchio a show dedicated to infancy and selected by Premio Scenario Infanzia 2008 in Cascina stage.

2009 - Direction and choreography of Azioni da camera for Teatro Kismet OperA in Bari. The choreography involved about 25 disabled people in an itinerant performance through the rooms, the hall, the restaurant and other places of the Palace Hotel in Bari.

2010 - Direction and choreography of Santi impossibili for Teatro Kismet OperA in Bari. The choreography involved about 25 disabled people.

2010 – dramaturg in the international co-production of Romanze, choreographies by Virginia Heinen and in co-operation with Cie Blicke in Strasburg, Compagnai Menhir and CCN of Mulhouse/Ballet de l’Opéra National du Rhin. The project has been performed in preview during 2010 autumn at TAPS Scala in Strasburg and has participated in July 2011 to the Festival off in Avignon and to the Festival of Perpignan.

2011 - dancer and choreographer of Nina e le nuvole, choreographic show dedicated to children and realised in co-operation with MEGAFON and Res Extensa and with the support of Maccabeteatro-Thalassia/Teatro Comunale of Torre S.S./Teatri abitati-Residenze Teatrali in Apulia. The show debuted in 2011 during Maggio all’Infanzia and it has been distributed into the Apulia Regional circuit.

Assistant at coreography of Virgilio Sieni in the project Puglia Green Hour realized in the “Parco delle Dune Costiere da Torre San Leonardo a Torre Canne”. This project developed a series of dialogues between thought and choreographies performed by aged women and young female dancers in the ancient olive fields of the Natural Parc.

2012 - assistant at choreography of Virgilio Sieni in the Project Grande Adagio Popolare, the project involved about 35 people coming from different communities of Bari (migrants, aged traders, young people and children) in four different performances organized in four different locations of the city: Palazzo Fizzarotti, Palazzo exPoste Centrali, Palazzo della Provincia, Camera di Commercio.

In co-operation with Cooperativa Sociale C.L.A.D. Onlus in Terlizzi, Cooperativa Sociale Il Girasole in Corato and Senza Piume Teatro realisation of Theatre lab held by Damiano Nirchio during the project OPEN Sinergie by ASL BARI – Ambito Territoriale n°3. This project involved about 20 drug addicted people;

Artistic Director of the project Le Danzatrici, planning of cultural events about relationship between physicality and collective rituality, conceived and directed by Giulio De Leo and financed in the Piano Triennale per la Cultura by Apulia Region and by Assessorato alla Cultura of the Municipality of Ruvo di Puglia. The project has been realised between October and December 2012.

2013 - assistant at choreography of Virgilio Sieni in the Project Trois Agorà Marseille for MP2013 Capitale Européenne de la Culture, the project involved about 150 people coming from different communities of Europe (migrants, aged traders, aged artisans, aged women and men, young people, children and professional dancers) in three different performances organized in different non conventional locations of Marseille;

dancer and choreographer of Solitario, full dance show realised with the support of Compagnia Teatroscalo/Teatro “Il Saltimbanco” of Santeramo in Colle/Teatri Abitati-Residenze Teatrali in Apulia and the co-operation of Ruvo di Puglia Municipality. The show has been previewed during the Festival Azioni in Danza 2013 and will debute in Bari at DAB Festival by the Teatro Pubblico Pugliese.

2014 - assistant at choreography of Virgilio Sieni for the special project of Biennale College Danza 2013 Vangelo Secondo Matteo. The project developed 27 choreographic tables performed by 170 people coming from many italian regions.

Artistic Director and choreographer for the natural parc “Parco Nazionale dell’Alta Murgia” of the project Il Vangelo di Pasolini – Volti, luoghi e suoni della Murgia a cinquant’anni dal film. The project developed a series of seven events realized in the area of the natural parc and in non conventional places of three municipalities of this territory. Fifty two people involved in 6 choreographic tables loosely based on the film of Pier Paolo Pasolini.

Teaching and formation activities
Since 2000 he directs theatre labs, workshops for dance and theatre professional operators, project for Teatro & Handicap and up-dating courses (with ECM credits recognition) for professional operators in the filed of rehabilitation in different domestic AUSL. He is a teacher in the educational course for actors “Arteincorso” POR PUGLIA 2000-2006 for Consorzio tra le Cooperative sociali Elpendù. He directs from 2006 “l’officina video-cinematografica”, lab for students of senior high school for screenplay education for Segnavia Wegmarken Onlus. In 2008 he becomes artistic director of the project Teatro e Handicap by Teatro Kismet OperA in Bari.

2008 - Production of the research path about the mature body in co-operation with Centro Ricreativo per Anziani Regina Margherita in Barletta from which the study Dear Dad was born. It has been presented during 2008 edition of Visioni di Parte festival.

2011 - Workshop Romanze held by Giulio De Leo for young Apulian dancers, realised with the support of the Municipality of Ruvo di Puglia, in co-operation with Megafon and under the patronage of Teatro Pubblico Pugliese-Dansystem. The workshop produced Stanze di Anatomia a site specific event realized at exConvento dei Domenicani in Ruvo di Puglia;

Assistant of Virgilio Sieni, director of Biennale di Venezia Danza, as coordinator of the Biennale College Danza Participants 2013.
