My name is Giuseppe, but everyone calls me Joe. I'm 26. I'm originally from Long Island, New York. I have been working on contract as a school psych. in beautiful Olympia, WA since January 2017. After my work is up I plan to travel around the country, hoping to see new places and meet new people. I've WWOOFed in the past, especially in between semesters at graduate school. I have WWOOFed in Oregon, Maine, and Virginia. Stepping out of my comfort zone and trying new things is something I value and I hope to gain a good deal of that through traveling.

I deeply value, and strive to foster, positive mental health and community solidarity. Back in New York, I volunteered with my local Food Not Bombs chapter for many years and had the opportunity to organize my own foodshare in Wyandanch, NY. For anyone who doesn't know, Wyandanch is considered one of the many "food deserts" in the greater New York City area. Therefore, what our foodshare did was organize to pickup food refuse, left over at local grocery stores at the end of each night, and redistribute the food to the local community, free of charge. A veritable act of local community helping and sustaining itself and all its members.
