About Me

Hello fellow travelers! I'm a Swiss/Turkish girl, I've grown up in Zurich and live now in Geneva and Zurich (weekdays/weekends), as I study in Geneva but work in Zurich. Right now I'm trying to get my bachelors degree in International Relations. I love to travel. I'm into art as well, but performing and culinary arts rather than classical art :). Politics is one thing I love to talk about, so be prepared to talk about the political situation in your country when meeting me. I love beer, and I love tasting new beers everywhere I go. I'm an outgoing person, I love live music and going out to dance and get drinks, just having fun and enjoying life. I love to laugh! I'm also quite open-minded. I have two siblings, and my parents are not divorced (I don't know why I feel like I have to write this). My parents are Turkish but I guess people would consider me rather Swiss than Turkish, as I got a lot more European than Turkish culture. This doesn't mean that I don't know my origins. I speak Turkish fluently, I visit Turkey and my relatives there quite often. I love meeting new people and getting to know new cultures, new habits, new ways to see the world. So hurry up and come to Switzerland!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

There were many people in my life who opened up their homes requiring nothing but a smile. I want to do the same for others!

Interests

First of all, I love to travel and I spend every free penny and minute on travelling. I like to go out, dance all night and taste different beers. At the moment, since I've been back from Israel, my favorite one is the Shapiro artisan craft beer brewed by two boys that I got to meet there. I also love live music, almost all kinds (no metal or hard rock please :D). A little sport is a must, so I do jazz dance. But other than that, I'm quite an artistic person (theatre and piano), and I consider cooking and baking as an art. Politics is one big subject I love to talk about with people, even though I know that some people are quite sensitive when it comes to politics. I love meeting new people and immerse in new cultures and try their foods and get to know their habits and noticing the little thing they do differently than we do in our country.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like the Swedish band Movits! very much, and the Spanish Estopa. I'm not that into movies or TV shows, I'd rather read a book. My favorite one at the moment is Michel Houellebecq's "Soumission".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I left Switzerland for a year when I was 16 to go live with strangers in a village in the United States.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to improve my Spanish so all Spanish travelers welcome :D I'm kidding all travelers are welcome. I believe in the kindness of humanity and that everyone can learn from everyone.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Tolerance and acceptance of differences in looks and characters is the key to a friendly coexistence. I'd love to live in a world where people keep their prejudices to themselves. Traveling is the cure! Getting to know people, their culture and country improves cultural understanding and thus simplifies our living together on earth.
