Overview
About Me
We live off grid and generate our own power using a micro hydro system, so we enjoy all the pleasures of electricity (lights, computer, fridge, internet) We are so lucky to drink pure, unadulterated wild mountain creek water, and breath in fresh air, and eat organically grown food from our gardens mostly. Jonathan is a carpenter and built our straw bale earth plaster home, which we have lived in since Feb of 2014. We have 4 retired horses, a very friendly dog who loves to play and go for walks, and a furry fat cat named Harvey. Our accommodations include tons of tenting space, a guest cabin, a small camper and a converted bus! We accept WWOOFers and workawayers from all over the world from March to September. We live 45 minutes outside of the nearest town called Lillooet, and there is no public transportation to Lillooet sadly. If you like to be somewhere off the beaten path, where it is quiet and dark at night, where you might hear coyotes singing in the wind, and you don't mind the occasional spider, or other insects, where your shoes might get dirty, and where you don't mind lending a hand even by just doing dishes, being around kids, playing games before bed (optional!), then this is the place to visit! We have no phone or cell service, though we check our cell phone when in town, 3 days a week. We do have internet at home, not high speed and no wireless by choice.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We have hosted approximately 100 volunteers from all over the world, and this experience has not only helped us accomplish many goals on our homestead, but it's enriched our lives tremendously. We love sharing our piece of paradise with others who appreciate a different way of life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Built a house using as many natural materials and methods as was practical (economically and otherwise, focusing on the carbon footprint, while raising and homeschooling our child while living in a trailer/mobile home that didn't get direct sunshine for 11 weeks of the year, for 7 long years and staying together!
