About Me

Hi! I’m Gladys from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania 🇹🇿

I’m a warm, curious, and open-hearted person who truly enjoys meeting people from different cultures. I love good conversations, shared meals, slow walks around the city, and learning how people live around the world.

Languages are a big passion of mine, I enjoy studying and practicing new languages and connecting through them. When I’m not doing that, you’ll probably find me cooking, meditating, traveling (or dreaming about it!), or capturing moments 📸.
I believe the best part of travel is people, and Couchsurfing is a beautiful way to turn strangers into friends

At the moment, I do not offer accommodation, but I’m happy to be a local host showing people around, sharing culture, helping with planning, and making your time in Dar es Salaam more enjoyable.

I can help with:
• Walking around the city
• Food spots & local experiences 🍲
• Cultural exchange & conversations
• Tips for transport, bookings, and travel planning

If you’re looking for a friendly local to explore with or ask questions, I’m happy to help

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I’ve done is commit myself to learning and practicing more than one language while connecting with people from different cultures. Through hosting and traveling, conversation, and everyday interactions, I’ve learned how powerful language and cultural exchange can be in building understanding and friendships across the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I can teach or share basics of Swahili, Tanzanian culture, and simple home cooking.

Learn: I’m always interested in learning new things, new languages, different cooking styles, and how people live and think in other parts of the world.

Share: I’m happy to share good conversations, cultural stories, and meals. I enjoy creating a calm, respectful, and friendly environment for guests

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share good conversation, cultural exchange, and positive energy. I enjoy sharing stories about Tanzanian culture, food, and daily life. I’m respectful, open-minded, and always grateful for the time and kindness people offer.

I’m also happy to help where I can whether that’s cooking together, helping with small tasks, or simply sharing a meal and meaningful conversation.
