ABOUT ME

Two of us, we are a couple and have just set up home in a small town in Marlborough, close to the ferry terminal. We are both very busy so can't offer a couch all the time, but may be able to help out in emergencies.

Oh, we have a small crazy cat and a large crazy dog.

PHILOSOPHY

Never give up, never lose hope, face your fears, have a backbone, stand up for those weaker than yourself, believe in yourself, respect self and others.

A philosophy I cannot abide is that which states that a person holds a "higher" social position based on their level of education - a philosophy expounded by a certain couchsurfing physician on Crete during a phone call in October 2009. He specifically said that the people I associate with are below him because he is a doctor and therefore on a higher social standing. In addition, because I associate with these "lower" people, I am a lower person myself. Sorry, but in my opinion, his point of view sucks. Some people have no choice in the education they receive, so being a doctor in no way will make me a "better" person than anyone else, nor will I shun people as not being good enough for me. The only people who are not good enough for me are people who take advantage of their position in life to manipulate other people for their own ends.

If I EVER turn into a snob like that because of my profession, each and every one of you has my permission to slap me in the face.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Waking up alive each day is a pretty damn amazing thing to do. Seeing other people honestly face their fears is something that will always challenge me to become a better person.
