About Me

I started out in a small village in the North West of England and have ended up... 22km down the road in the big city of Manchester!

I originally moved to Manchester to study, and quickly got pulled into the music scene. I started DJing as a student and continue to do so to this day. Through promoting club nights, I also got into graphic design and illustration.

I practice as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator. I work mainly in the music industry and with social justice, campaigning and community organisations. You can take a look at my work here, if you'd like: www.glencutwerk.com

I also produce and perform electronic music, and love seeking out dusty records in local record shops wherever I am in the world.

I've been lucky enough to collaborate on various projects with some amazing artists in other cities around the world, but so far this has been through the power of the internet, and we haven't met up face-to-face. I'd love to make some new visual art or music with someone in another city whilst Couchsurfing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the ethos of Couchsurfing, operating on trust and trading skills and knowledge rather than trying to monetise every human interaction. It's a wonderful way to meet people, and get to know your host/guest more than the awkward forced nature of something like AirBnB.

I want to learn more about the people and cultures that exist around the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

I host a regular radio show on Reform Radio here in Manchester. I collect and play a lot of different types of music. If you'd like to get an idea of what I'm into why not check one of my previous shows out?

I'm a massive sci-fi geek, so favourite books and films are definitely going to be weighted in that genre's favour:

Blade Runner, La meglio gioventù, Alien, Lola rennt, Good Bye, Lenin!, 2001: A Space Odyssey etc etc!

I love Murakami, Vonnegut, Asimov and Le Guin

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've walked down from bare mountain rocks, through the clouds and into dense forests on the slopes of a dormant volcano in the Canary Islands!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach DJing, we can jam on some synths and drum machines, or cook some good scran!

You can learn some folk songs from me!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer a large couch or often there is a spare bed in the house as one of my housemates is often travelling for work.

I can share my knowledge of Manchester, having lived here for 10 years. I can show you some great places to go out dancing, where to get a coffee or a pint and where to get a culture fix!

Countries I’ve Visited

Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden

Countries I’ve Lived In
