Overview
About Me
I am older, but please don't tell me! My work life included teaching, running a canoe outfitting service on the Suwannee River, a small service business, real estate associate and then a teacher for another 20 years.
I have been outdoor focused all my life so paddling is what I know best. If you want to visit expensive venues, you are on your own. In any case, beyond sharing what I know, I will not try to tag along with younger people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
In all my life-adventures, I didn't prepare to live widely at this time of life, so I am looking for ways to enable myself - and others-to do so on a limited budget.
Music, Movies, and Books
I am eclectic in my preferences, but don't have a library of music. I like foreign movies, as much for the cultural insight as for the stories, but often like the stories as well. Most of my reading has been for my occupation, but I read about anything set in front of me!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was 75 I fulfilled a life-long ambition of joining the Peace Corps! This afforded me to experiencing 2 years in Indonesia on the island of Jawa. I didn't learn to speak the government spoored language, but I had a wonderful experience. Previously I taught 2 years in Taiwan at a University and contemplated staying there.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share my home with an independent traveler.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I don't require a lot of attention nor amenities, but I am friendly, easy to talk with.
