About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Busy year of study and getting away when I can.
ABOUT ME
This year is a busy one for me, and much of it will be UK based; I start a Creative Writing Masters in Edinburgh in September, so I need to be saving for that for several months. Having said that, I am writing this from Colombia, so am still able to get away some! I enjoy travelling because it gives me inspiration to write, and I have found that Couch Surfing is such a rewarding way to travel, the people you meet and the help you receive is priceless. I am looking forward to having some permanent residence so I can begin helping other travellers.
PHILOSOPHY
I would say that this time of my life is a bit of a turning point. I am loving trips away more than ever, but my writing is becoming ever more important. I guess it puts a new spin on travelling, and makes it even more important.
I guess it is all about the moment and the interaction with others and helping and being helped. You have to love this life!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Simple ways, like telling friends, leaving feedback and, as I said, by helping other travellers when I return to the UK.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have had 'couch surfing' experiences whilst travelling unofficially. Daniel and his family in Bogota are the first I have been successful in staying with by using the Couch Surfing site. I hope all families are as nice as this one.
Interests
Writing fiction, playing tenor guitar, talking about and seeing music, outdoor activities, especially swimming based hobbies and walking.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: if I could have written one book, it would be 'The Old Man and the Sea'; it is the most perfect text there is. Also, anything by Rose Tremain, Margaret Atwood, Emily Dickinson and Roald Dahl.
Music: I love my folk music, specifically Lau, Seth Lakeman and Martha Tiltson; also, my favourite all time band is The White Stripes, with The Black Keys close by and The Rolling Stones too. Also, Leo Koftte.
Film: The last great one I saw was A Serious Man, before that, Let the Right One In and Wall-E.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
There have been a fair share, but the last thing that blew me was seeing a Blue Whale from about 15ft from a Zodiac. I love marine life and seeing the biggest living animal on Earth was really special.
Teach, Learn, Share
Hard one this; I guess I know about music and bicycles the most, but I have a pretty good knowledge of wood work from framing days. I'll update this one.
I want to learn about music techniques and chord structure and 'rules' mostly at the moment.
