CURRENT MISSION
Exploring the depths of the Middle East
ABOUT ME
Hey -
I'm a 35 yo down to earth guy. Born and raised in a suburban district in Brazil, I moved to Sao Paulo about 15 years ago to work and study.
Chatting, strolling around, being outdoorsy, meeting the locals and partying with them pretty much describes my idea of a perfect trip!
PHILOSOPHY
You're not in control, and everything is permitted. Enjoy.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have quite a brief CS experience. I have hosted CSers two times before, but we met through AIESEC primarily. Also through AIESEC, I got to meet and stay in Yerevan. Both were great experiences.
I've been hosted when travelling around Israel and Jordan.
Interests
Love discussing and understanding different points of view on geopolitics, religion, culture, sexuality, law, etc.
Since I work with finance I also enjoy discussing the markets, trends, trading, etc. Always pleasant to talk entrepreneurship, and I've recently taken special interest on microfinance too.
Geographically, I'm really fascinated by the Middle East. I mean this melting pot of cultures/religions/history which never ceases to be a focal point in global politics can't be dull. Also the landscapes are amazing :D
I love being outdoors too. Camping, fishing, cycling, hiking, building stuff - sign me up for anything. I can cook too, so if you host me you can have some Brazilian dishes. I tend to do pretty well when I can find the ingredients (which is NEVER when I'm abroad, but I do get pretty close to some barable flavor).
Sports-wise, badminton is my thing. I also love being immersed in water, generally.
Despite my nationality, I generally despise playing soccer. I think the soccer ball might have something against me, really. We have a difficult relationship.
Oh I like video and board games too. Trying hard not to be overly competitive on those
Ohh did I mention ping pong?

Music, Movies, and Books
I love chick flicks, I love action movies, I'm a sucker for Hollywood. French movies are generally not my thing. I have a few recommendation on Brazilian cinema, but they are blockbusters too. So I'm not that kind of cinephile who has a crush on obscure cinema.
I tend to love everything that's on the radio, but I have some obscure likings too. I love Turkish and Middle Eastern music and I've been listening to some Yemeni-Israeli songs lately. I also dig the classicals/baroque like Bach and Rachmaninov.
Lately I've been reading Brazilian history books.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Can I add two?
I have been to the riverside communities of the Amazon River, helping bring medical care to those who are masssively uncared for.
I've also contributed to better understanding the effects of the buildup of CO2 to the Ocean, in a cruise to Antarctica. And I SAW PENGUINS WOOHOO
Teach, Learn, Share
I can draw, I can teach Portuguese, and I can teach on how to deal with the Brazilian markets (barely though). I also know the Israeli national anthem. And the Brazilian one.
