Über mich
CURRENT MISSION
Be honest with ourselves about what truly makes us happy.
ABOUT ME
Some might describe Tanya as enthusiastic, passionate, silly, practical, and dynamic. She loves teaching in and out of the classroom.
Some might describe Luke as patient, witty, skilled, easy-going, and athletic. He is an engineer, artist, and craftsman.
PHILOSOPHY
Proud allies; our home is a safe space. We're progressive and non-consumer (despite having too much stuff!) We're generally "ethicurean" eaters, but value culture, generosity, and small pleasures in eating too.
We eschew social protocol in favor of honesty.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
ON HOSTING:
Hosting is an excuse to eat good food! But its also rewarding and has taught us how to be better Surfers. We've become a bit exhausted hosting, though, and are taking a break. We want guests to love Yilan as we do, but that involves bringing them around to our favorite spots which--though fun and gratifying-- has tired us out over the years. So we may vary in our energy and ability to host you, but you're always welcome to ask.
ON SURFING:
Unfortunately we get few opportunities to surf. We usually travel far off the beaten path where hosts are hard to find. But when we're passing through a city and lucky enough to find a host, we: 1) enjoy getting to know them and their lives; 2) find kind ways to thank them for their hospitality; 3) gain new perspectives; and 4) save a couple bucks. What's not to love?

Musik, Filme und Bücher
Movies: we're pretty critical about movies and have been watching more TV (online) lately. Lots of Netflix.
Music: a wide range that neglects country and ballads, and leans toward 90's grunge, alternative, punk, rap, and metal.
Books: Podcasts are more conducive to our lifestyle.
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
Just us, four horses, and the remote Mongolian wilderness for two weeks.
Lehren, lernen, teilen
Can teach/share: how to swim, cooking and knife skills, special frisbee throws, basic guitar chords, how to read Korean, how to care for plants, how to use chopsticks, how to reduce dependence on single-use plastics. We've introduced many to our board games-- if you're game, we're game.
Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann
In the winter, we will share food and board games with you. Maybe a hot spring.
In the summer we hike, snorkel, bike, garden/farm, camp, picnic, have beach fires, and sometimes play Ultimate or frisbee golf. And board games, still.
