About Me

CURRENT MISSION
To slowly explore the global playground as a minimalist backpacker and discover the beauty without through the child-like wonder and awe from within.

ABOUT ME
One day I woke up, decided to sell everything that I own, and set off on a journey to slowly explore the wonders and awe of the world. In December of 2010, I put all the things that I thought I really needed into way too big of a backpack, left Austin, Texas, and headed south.

I have now spent over 13 years full time slowly traveling the world as a minimalist backpacker. I’ve also since learned that I don’t need so much in my backpack after all.

Along my journey, I've had the honor of getting to know some truly incredible people who’ve blessed me in ways I never could have possibly imagined. People who've shown me the inherent goodness of our human nature, the power of the human spirit, and who've given me a book full of amazing life experiences to share with others.

PHILOSOPHY
Make love with the fear.

Be a gardener of lives by nourishing their soul to blossom.

I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the more I give, the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake.

Be the kind of person who lives the kind of life that writes its own book, plays its own music, and makes its own movie.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To expose myself to the diversity of humans and their cultures, especially how they truly live and enjoy life most.

How I participate?

I show up and give all that I have to share.

Sometimes that means helping little old ladies dance across the street. If people ask me to join their journey, I willing offer a hand, as well as a shoulder. Sometimes it's just as simple as giving a "free hug," or making eye contact with a stranger, and smiling with my eyes too.

It seems that the essence of CS is to help build an intentional community based on giving and receiving where we can come to trust one another to share the best of ourselves.

For me, it's also an opportunity to connect beyond social-cultural and geopolitical boundaries to what makes us most human, and even more, spiritual beings.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I’ve been "couchsurfing" for a long time now well before Couchsurfing ever turned it into a platform. Friends, roommate's friends, friends of friends, new acquaintances, even the occasional homeless person has spent a night (or more) on my couch. I have spent a night or a few on the couch of others.

So while I've had plenty of "couchsurfing" experiences in my life, I am looking forward to many more couchsurfing experiences through this platform. Although I have to say some of my most memorable “couchsurfing”experiences hosting and being hosted, especially since I began traveling full time has been with the amazingly kind and generous people I’ve met along the way during my journey.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies
I love black and white movies, and documentaries.

Music:
I enjoy singer-songwriter, independent type music. I especially love acoustic music.

Books:
Choose your Own Adventure Number One - The Cave of Time, The Light in the Attic, or The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. All of which I've loved since I was a kid.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sharing my playful heart while inspiring others to do the same.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to help people get out of their heads, be in the moment, and trust their intuition over their fears, so they can be open to possibility of what can be created in the moment with others.
