Über mich

CURRENT MISSION

Just trying to be the best person I can be, while helping the most people possible, all while kicking it with cool people and enjoying the good vibes of life.

ABOUT ME

I'm a pretty laid back guy from the South.... I really enjoy hanging out with new people and seeing how everyone else's mind in the world works. There's a lot to be learned and I'm doing my best to soak it all in.

I love the outdoors, most especially the mountains and its snow, rivers and animals. With that being said there will always be a special place in my heart for a warm sandy beach, warm clear waters, beautiful people and a nice cold beer.

I think I get along with and have fun with most everyone, therefore we should get together sometime and kick it....

PHILOSOPHY

Hmm... this is pretty deep. I guess I'm a pretty well rounded person that has seen quite a bit in my short life. With that being said I'm someone that enjoys the "thrill of the new." I try and put myself in new places with new people.... I'm a big believer in smiling, being genuine, polite, and open minded and letting things fall where they may.

Be good to people, Why do we need any real reason or reward for helping a stranger? I think we all collectively maintain a balance between being much more similar and much more different than one another at the same time, so why not take five minutes to say hello and learn at the very least one thing you can take away from how that person lives their life. To me, this will benefit us all and in turn the others within the world that we touch.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I broke into the CSing scene by indirectly hosting about a million people a month through my awesome roomie, Candice. Now that I have my own place and my own couch, I look forward to hosting people every so often.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Wow... I wish I had known a little more about CSing when I was traveling around the world.

Not that I doubted the ability of this community to function well, but I have been so surprised at how awesome everyone is that I've met through CSing. People from all parts of the world and all walks of life embrace one another as friends and genuinely appreciate the ability to have someone they can trust and call a friend while away from home.

Interessen

Outdoors.... Snowboarding, Fly-fishing, Hunting, Hiking, Long-boarding, etc. etc. If it's outdoorsish I'm down.

Sports Nut.... simply put, I like them all.

Traveling and hanging out with new people... As much as humanly possible!

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I've climbed a 15,000 peak in the Himalayas and snowboarded down, spent 3 weeks with a family in rural Laos, seen the inside of a Thai jail, drank the water in India, spent Tet with a random family in Vietnam, drank Kava traditionally with Fijians on Kadavu Island where there are no roads or power, watched the sun set near the bottom of the earth, been to a 50,000 person rave on a beach, "backpacked" the Ritz in London, and had a drink with an entire village in Laos in one sitting.

I've done all this plus much much more in one trip circum-navigating the world all while returning home still in one piece.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

While in Fiji I spent an afternoon in a park talking with 4 or 5 kids about life. One of these kids who was probably 12 or 13 said something to me that struck me as amazing for an adolescent to grasp.... and it was simply this:

"Use your common sense, not your lungs!"
