About Me

**If you are looking for a host for the Werchter festival, I suggest camping at the festival - better than Couchsurfing! ***

Currently traveling east from Belgium to Central Asia with my wife Saule -https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/saule_sunny.

I like a relaxing lifestyle, living with nature and do-it-yourself ethic. I spend winter in Belgium, trying to get some work done, and summers on the road, usually somewhere between Belgium and Kazakhstan, as I write an online travel guide for the Silk Road for a living.

I am very interested in the world at large, its people, animals, history, and landscapes. I like to challenge my own view of things, like to learn something new. I really enjoy meeting people, getting their perspective.

Traveling is no longer a must like it was in the past, but I must admit, it still brings me a lot: generating new energy and inspiration, sparking curiosity, bringing a lot of fun moments and unexpected encounters, ...

Been on Couchsurfing since 2006, and still using it. Like to host or meet people in Belgium to break the routine, and meet locals when I am traveling.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to meet people. Before, I needed to save money, and the free-ness of CS came in very handy. In my 30s now, I can afford staying in hotels. Which is nice sometimes. But CS still gives you something extra, and over the years, I have had many great experiences through this platform. I hope it continues.

Interests

I enjoy thinking, talking and reading, which has led me to develop a range of wildly different interests.

I think a lot about travel and place, history, culture and how it is all connected. This is my work and my hobby. To get out of the house, I like to do sports.

I am not a huge party animal anymore but occasionally I surprise myself.
