Hi there! We are glad that you found our profile and are considering staying with us. We are a small family made up of Ava, Gabriel and Bobba (the cat). We live in an apartment in Kingston, in the Nation's capital.

Boba is the most chill animal ever and does not mind having guests around.

Ava and I work a fair amount, but we can are happy to make something work with you :)

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

Gabriel has been on and off on Couchsurfing for a decade and a half. Now it is time that we both participate together in this project by hosting in our home and surfing with many beautiful people!

During Gabriel's Europe trip, summer of '09 (3500km in 12 days, bag-packing and hitch-hiking), he began his CS-experience: 'I started to surf couches for the first time in Breda, where I also experienced that there is more behind all this idea. When stranded and lost, I was helped out by some CSers. They organized an emergency stay for me in Antwerp. This guy was awesome and after one night, I kept on travelling... walking in France for 8 hours until I finally reached the sea, caught the boat, found somebody who would take me in his car, because there were no pedestrians allowed.'

Following this initial experience, many followed and we have always tried to continue to participate.

Interessen

Science. We like to learn new things and look at the world through different eyes, we are very invested and interested in our respective fields of expertise as well as many surrounding fields. Being able to see the greater picture is a grand feeling.

TV/Movies. Mr Sunshine, How I met your mother, The Mindy Project, The exes, The Office. We love to watch TV series, and we are big fans of romcoms on a Sunday night.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

As part of our careers, we read a lot. In our free time we also enjoy a good read, Gabriel favourites currently mainly Stephanie Plum Novels, by Janet Evanovich, while Ava is reading about Roman history. Music wise, we listen to many different styles and it really depends on what mood we are in.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Gabriel: SUMMER 2009: I hitchhiked in one day 873km and on another 737km :) and I walked for 10 hours in the bright sun of northern France, because I was totally lost… btw: on my whole crazy trip of two weeks, I only spent like about £100 including transportation, food and a flight ticket, ticket for a ship and two tickets for the train :D

We are sure this is stuff we are going to discover when we meet and talk for hours (Languages, travels, experiences).

A side-note: You can pick our brains about many things, but please do not bring up religious or political beliefs and ideologies. If the time is right, then we can talk about these things, but in general we regard them as deeply personal and reserve such discussion for special occasions.

Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann

Canberra is a surprisingly rich area, filled with a wide variety of attractions. These range from its plethora of natural beauty to cultural richness. For example there are the southern national parks, Tidbinbilla/Namadgi that are very nice to hike in and explore. If you are interested in museums, Canberra as that to offer as well, including the Australian War Memorial, which is a surprisingly informative and gorgeous place to visit.
