Taking a sabbatical. I have taken the past few months off and am traveling around Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand. I don't have any fixed timeframe or final destination, so I am just going to keep on traveling until I reach the end.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When traveling, I love meeting locals and fellow travelers. In 2016, I took all of my vacation time and a week of unpaid leave to go on a single extended trip so I was home-bound for the foreseeable future. Wanting to keep that travel experience alive, I signed up as a host to meet couch surfers, share stories with them, and help them as they travel in my area.

Music, Movies, and Books

Into the local music scene but most interested in rock bands. If a band puts on a good live show, I will always check them out. I saw 80 live shows last year (2016).

Read mostly non-fiction in an attempt to understand things a little better. I am usually an avid reader consuming dozens of books a year but recently, I only have enough time to read travel guides.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Early on in my travels, I went to East Africa on safari. It was a truly amazing experience to see first hand the flora and fauna that I had seen as a child on nature shows.

Unfortunately, I don't have any great marketable skills, but I am up for going out and can give you a great excuse to check out that touristy place that you never made it to before.
