About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Eat the world's supply of Panang Curry

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Arizona, but my family spent a huge amount of time traveling: Mexico and Central America being our primary destinations (Cheap, near, and my parents are fluent in Spanish.)

I'm deaf, and grew up with intense training in speech therapy and even "cultural integration" where they had to literally teach me what most children learn and take for granted! That, along with a taste for travel, philosophy, anthropology and more have given me a desire to meet oddballs the world over. (Yes, oddballs. If you don't consider yourself odd, what are you doing here?)

PHILOSOPHY

Why do I live my life? Because it's all we get. Make it worth it =).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just joined! But I'm definitely telling friends about it, and even making it a public invitation to them?

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None with couchsurfing.com! All my couch surfing experiences to date have been with friends and family: Visiting places and staying with them, etc. So far, that's entirely local to the U.S.A, and I'd like to expand my borders.

Interests

I am not a city person. Don't stay with me if you want to me to take you on a tour of Seattle - Visit if you want me to take you to small neighboring towns, waterfalls, hikes, lakes, etc. (Or in summer, for some waterskiing and sailing!)

I'm also:

* Outdoorsman: Camping, backpacking, mountaineering, etc!
* A student pilot after my pilot's license.
* An amateur photographer. (Check my flickr page; http://flickr.com/photos/captdeaf)
* A software engineer. I write mobile phone games for fun (and so far, $5 in profit)

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently reading (and re-reading, since Book 2 isn't out yet): Patrick Rothfuss's Name of the Wind series. I'm a huge sci-fi fan: Asimov, Heinlein, Dick, Farmer.

Currently watching on TV: Red Dwarf, Arrested Development, Pinky & The Brain.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Probably the one that sticks out the most: My first flight solo: A Cessna 172, 3 of my best landings of all time.

Teach, Learn, Share

Can teach: Sign language, deaf culture, software engineering, cooking Panang Curry.

Want to learn: Everything I can.

Want to share: Everything I know.
