About Me

CURRENT MISSION

back from traveling the world, growing mushrooms, and later traveling the world.

ABOUT ME

If you catch me at the wrong time I'll talk non-stop for hours. so be careful. I'm quite tall and rather skinny. typical american dude. I'm trying to strike a balance between the wisdom that comes with age while still being driven by the inspiration and passion of youth. I started traveling when i was in my teenage years and I've been hooked ever since. mostly in the US but a little in Mexico, Canada, the DR, and now Nepal and most of central Europe, throughout the years I've spent traveling I've worked as a farmer, nanny, snow shoveler, mushroom specialist, construction worker, duck catcher, bicycle repairman, tutor of biology and chemistry, nude model, dish washer, garbage picker, and a slew of other odd and incongruous occupations. Now I've been working as an English and math teacher for first graders living in the jungle of rural nepal. In the US I'm working on some other projects growing shiitake mushrooms.

PHILOSOPHY

I keep telling myself things like " try not to get too worried about all this trouble we're in, and let's try to get along and not get into fighting about too much. it's good to trust your senses and sensibilities over your faith in preconceived notions and be prepared to prove yourself wrong. now stop goofing off and lets ride bikes "

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

if you come and visit plan to get your cloths dirty. i really try to get people to hangout in the woods and on the river and what have you.

I have tried to leave every village town and city I travel through a little better off then it was before I came through. I like to work in the field and play with the children. I have volunteered my time with countless groups. I have a tendency to fall in love with every new place I visit and have made a habit of always trying to make return trips to continue with whatever occupied my time the first time I came through. My plan for the up coming year is to construct a mobile home in the US which will be used to host fellow surfers who want to stay with me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have no horror stories to share, sorry. I've stayed with so many different people It's difficult to pick a single experience to put here. When i was staying with the grand daughter of the first prime minister of Sri Lanka in Virginia I learned to eat rice with my fingers. In Syringa Idaho I learned about white water rafting. I've stayed with families in the jungle of Nepal. there have been times when I came for a day and stayed for 6 months, In my experience a lot can happen when you meet someone new.

Interests

cycling, farming, old tools, diesel engines, lighter than air travel, mushrooms and their allies, marine algae, children and education, flowers, medicine, eating vegetables, hitch hiking, art, swimming, spinning around and getting dizzy, building stuff, drinking lots of water, chocolate, talking a lot about stuff i don't know that much about. perhaps biology is my greatest passion but in my dreams I'm often on a bicycle.

Music, Movies, and Books

honestly, I hate watching movies. I'll do it from time to time because I see the value in the information and effort that goes into creating them but they make me dull and give me nightmares.

music is great everyone loves music.

I read books all the time. but sometimes I get sleepy and fall asleep with the book in my hand.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

one time I woke up and all I could see was the inside of a bear's mouth. and an other time i jumped off my friends roof into the snow and it was so deep it took me nearly an hour to get out. I got struck by lightning in the foot hills of the Himalayas. I after being sprayed in the eyes with pepper spray by the german police i took off all my cloths and danced naked in front of Hitlers house while the press had a field day with their cameras. I saw the northern lights in New Jersey. I saw someone cut off a goats head with a huge fucking sword. when I was a little little kid I watched a man jump off the george washington bridge in february.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a real wizz bang bicycle mechanic and love growing vegetables. I also know a lot about mushrooms. I want to learn how to use antiquated technology and make things. also I'm interested in learning more practical medicine. I love being a student
