New to the site, but have spent many happy nights on the floors and sofas of various people's houses I met through university, travelling,housesharing etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Anything that's depressing with subtitles, Ingmar Bergman, Akira Kurosawa. Plus stupid action films, anything with Arnie in is usually a good bet. Documentaries. Anime.
Music: Dylan, Nina Simone, Lou Reed, and lots of other stuff. John Renbourn. He's ace too.
Books: Just read Flannery o' Connor and she's the bomb, so her. I read a lot. and Lord
of the Rings, I'm ashamed to say.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I read 'Whitsun Weddings' by Philip Larkin, and thought, how did anyone manage to write something so good. 'The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker' evokes similar emotions.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a MA in South Asian history. I have a comprehensive knowledge of the works of J. R. R. Tolkein. I can make an ok cup of tea. I can spurt milk out of my nose like the android in 'Alien' (optional).
I'd like to get better at a different language or learn some different party tricks.
