Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I believe people will get along better if they speak the same language
ABOUT ME
I love exploring and finding out about new destinations. I'd rather spend a day visiting a gallery than a tourist trap, but sometimes some of the best attractions are also the most popular.
PHILOSOPHY
Live and let live.
Favourite Quote:
'Our achievements speak for themselves. What we have to keep track of are our failures, discouragements, and doubts. We tend to forget the past difficulties, the many false starts, and the painful groping. We see our past achievements as the end result of a clean forward thrust, and our present difficulties as signs of decline and decay.' Eric Hoffer
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've couch-surfed once before but not hosted.
Also I've met some really nice people in the CS meets in Guangzhou, exchanged numbers and met up again later, and also met up with another CSer in Belgrade.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I spent a few days staying in a great place in Hong Kong. I and a few others made a decent meal and enjoyed each other's company immensely. Since then I've attended a few nights in Guangzhou, meeting some great people.
Interests
Easy-going, (usually) hard working, I love great movies and music, art galleries and museums, travel, photography, economics, current affairs, cooking, and the Oxford comma.
A particularly good day for me would be buzzing around the countryside on a motorbike, followed by a few beers, a decent meal and a stroll along a river.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like blues, drum and bass, classical, soul, funk, rock and motown.
Movies; Lawrence of Arabia, Master and Commander, Memento, Groundhog Day, 12 Angry Men, The Deer Hunter, Magnolia, Human Traffic, Frost/Nixon, Donkey Punch, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Chinatown, American Psycho, Anchorman, Little Miss Sunshine, Wall Street - Money Never Sleeps, Blade Runner, As Good As It Gets, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Der Tunnel.
I read Economics and Sci-Fi books for fun.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I met Muhammad Ali when I was a kid, on the set of an advert for milk. During the lunch break I got talking to the guy for about 3/4 of an hour, after that I've been a lifelong fan.
Teach, Learn, Share
I could probably teach someone new to teaching EFL and also teach economics and personal finances - economics is a hobby and a passion of mine. I regularly read multiple websites on it. It's a bit odd so I generally converse with analysts and economists online, but if you want some idea about money I can usually give little insights to everyone.
For free, obviously. I'm not spamming here! I also like beer, cooking and meeting nice people.
I have the most inflexible joints in the world so I would like to learn some yoga. I'd also be grateful for any tips on cooking.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love to cook! My curries are quite good, my chilies are better, roast chicken when studded with garlic cloves - yum, I make a damn fine omelette. I have thousands of photos from countries I've visited, I know my around a computer, I can usually help with good (free) antivirus programs. Take me to a bar or licensed shop and I'll share a glass of...well.. anything!
