About Me

I live in Seattle and work as a nurse practitioner. I have two cats whom I love. I've spent the last 5 years in graduate school so traveling hasn't been as much of an option but I do manage to leave the country at least once a year, sometimes more. I'm into travel, love following politics and the news (but don't worry, I'm not annoying about it), and I wanna go on a long bike trip sometime soon.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I lived in Beijing I hosted a bunch of people from all over the world. I really enjoyed the experience of getting to make a new buddy every week. Couchsurfing has brought me a lot of really nice memories and people I still keep in touch with, and it has just made the process of traveling much deeper. The most real experiences I've had have all been shared ones.

Interests

Cycling, hiking, writing, reading, learning languages, meeting new people, meeting old people, abandoned structures, medicine and nursing, trying new things, sleeping in strange places, wandering about, dogs, cats, trains, history, philosophy, space travel.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: non-fiction about history and politics lately. I also like sci-fi. Someday I want to start a book review blog about post-apocolyptic fiction. I want to get into poetry but haven't really made the transition yet.

Movies: Les Miserables (with Liam Nieson), documentaries (Dark Days is my favorite), sci-fi movies (even bad ones).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'll write something here when I do anything that even remotely qualifies as amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Chinese language and history. Primary care medicine. Epidemiology.

Learn: Your culture and country. Where to find the best beer in your neighborhood. Good crockpot recipes.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A cool item from whatever place I most directly came from!

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, China, England, Ethiopia, France, Iraq, Kenya, Mexico, Mongolia, Netherlands, Scotland, Spain, Tanzania, Turkey, Viet Nam
