Overview
About Me
Hello! My name is Gökhan, and I call the beautiful city of Kayseri my home. With a deep expertise in biostatistics and medical informatics, my work revolves around the fascinating intersection of health and data. What I absolutely love about my profession is the freedom it offers – give me my trusty laptop and backpack, and the world becomes my workplace. Such mobility truly amplifies my passion for travel.
But to me, traveling is not just hopping from one tourist attraction to another. Rather, it's about forging connections, weaving stories, and immersing in the rich tapestry of human experiences. I believe that every journey is incomplete without sharing - be it memories, emotions, or the path itself. This mindset makes hitchhiking and Couchsurfing more than just modes of transport and accommodation; they become mediums of connection, giving me chances to meet diverse individuals and bond over shared tales and dreams.
Life, as I see it, is a fleeting tapestry of moments, and it's essential to make the most out of each one. I advocate living without self-imposed boundaries, diving headfirst into adventures even if they aren't meticulously planned, and always nurturing a positive mindset. Sending good vibes to the universe is my mantra, and I firmly believe that a simple smile can be the bridge between strangers, turning them into friends.
If you resonate with any part of my story, I'd love to hear yours. Let's create memories, one conversation at a time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Greetings, fellow travelers and curious souls!
For me, traveling is much more than just exploring new terrains or sampling local cuisines. It's a journey towards understanding the myriad perspectives that our vast world has to offer. Every person I meet on my travels brings with them a unique lens through which they view the universe. Engaging with these diverse viewpoints not only broadens my horizons but also enriches the depth of my thoughts and reflections. Each encounter is a lesson, a story, and a fresh breath of perspective.
My preferred mode of travel is hitchhiking. There's an unparalleled thrill in hopping onto a stranger's vehicle, sharing stories along the way, and parting with a newfound understanding of the world and often, a new friend. These journeys, sometimes long and sometimes just a few miles, have taught me more about humanity than any book ever could.
Furthermore, I embrace Couchsurfing wholeheartedly. It’s not just a means of finding a place to rest my head, but it's an opportunity to delve into the everyday lives of locals, to share experiences, dreams, and ideas. It’s the essence of genuine, unfiltered human connection.
If you're someone who believes that every individual you meet can teach you something new, if you're eager to share and absorb stories, or if you simply have a different perspective towards the universe you'd like to share, I’d be thrilled to cross paths with you. Let’s make our journeys more meaningful, one interaction at a time.
Interests
I love learning about different cities and cultures. I am interested in discovering place that I haven’t seen before and I specifically like to spend time in nature. I prefer spending hours away from technology in a forest, by a lake, by the sea or anywhere which makes me comfortable and peaceful. I am not a professional photographer but sometimes I take magnificent photos.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like listening to different cultural and ethnic musics. Therefore, I don’t have a sharp choice about musing. My voice is really really terrible Indian and Korean films have always been more attractive for me. However, I like watching foreign series in general. I prefer reading and listening to the radio during my travels.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
No matter it is rain or mud, no matter it is deep winter and hot summer, I traveled many places in Turkey by hitchhiking.
Hitchhiking is quite an event in Turkey.
Teach, Learn, Share
While traveling, I can chat for hours on how a clinical study is planned, what points should be given special importance, how data are collected, how the collected data are transferred into the digital environment; and I can share my knowledge. I can also say that I am enthusiastic about learning many other things by listening to the experiences in life and the perspectives towards life of people I am going to meet.
