About Me

CURRENT MISSION

get involved with something meaningful...

ABOUT ME

I like every vegetable except beets. I love cooking vegetarian and vegan food, trying to live "organically" as much as possible, and doing what I can to not further damage the environment. I grew up in the country, reading and dreaming of faraway places, and as soon as i was old enough to go by myself I began traveling. I'm equal parts silly and serious, and my friends are the most important thing in the world to me. I love taking long walks in unfamiliar places. I love movies and cheesy television shows (guilty pleasures!), books of all kinds, poetry, photography, random art projects, things that make me think, the intricacies of existence. I try to only own things I actually use.

PHILOSOPHY

The universe brings you what you need, when you need it- ask long as you are willing to ask for it.
Also, I love this quote from John Steinbeck, and have rather adopted it as my own:
"I was born lost, and take no pleasure in being found."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been on hiatus for the past year and a half due to work craziness, but I'm looking forward to getting back in the swing of things. I've both surfed and hosted myself, and thank god CS exists because 99% of my best travel friends and memories have been made through this site!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I first couchsurfed on a trip to Spain and had some really great experiences. Since then, I've surfed in Germany, France, and Ireland. I've also WWOOFED a few times. www.WWOOF.org: an amazing organization promoting organic farming and cultural exchange around the world. I've been able to host a few times while in NYC, and hope to at some point while I'm in Italy, but I need an apartment first!

Interests

Trying everything once. Except if it smells funny ... Then maybe not.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This is a little random... but one of the best moments in my life was on my first solo traveling experience. lying on my backpack in the open bed of a pickup truck with about ten other people, most of whom were recently acquired friends, careening through the streets of a small town in Thailand. we were on our way to Koh Tao and a late train was about to make us miss the ferry across the gulf to the island. It was the middle of the night, and the stars were enormous, and I just remember staring up at the sky and thinking that no one in the world from the life I'd left behind knew where I was. It was an amazing sense of freedom...
