ABOUT ME

We are a couple with one amusingly odd cat who behaves more like a dog and another very chatty old kitty. One of us loves Winnipeg and the other is still discovering and warming to it. We would love to travel A LOT... someday...

We generally don't take anything too seriously. We both love animals, meeting new people, discovering the little things, and learning all about other cultures, and their histories and especially sampling their foods!

Liz loves telling stories, whether they are her own or about her family history and she really enjoys hearing about what people experience and do.

PHILOSOPHY

If it's not happening.... make it happen! And you can bet at some point, in some way, it's laughable.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We haven't been "official" couch surfers since there appeared to be a mass exodus of hosts the time we were looking to surf in Vancouver. We billeted a performer for the Winnipeg Fringe Festival a few years ago andit was an experience to learn quite a bit about ourselves, having a stranger in our home for 2 weeks. We decided we'd definitely do that again... the bonus of free tickets to fringe performances didn't hurt;).

We recently had a couple acquaintances surf our couches for a stop on their road trip from Vernon, BC to Toronto, ON. Very little sleep but lots of fun!

Interests

Anything that makes exercise seem NOTHING like exercise
We love food!
Liz loves to cook and bake, although our galley style kitchen can make it a challenge at times. She loves trying out new recipes. If we're surfing your couch, tell her to bring her Granny's curry with her and let her know if you want it spicy!
We both enjoy going for walks and really love living in "the village" where we tend to stroll about just to see what's going on. It's also beautiful to take a few steps over to the cafe on the corner, and sit outside with a bevvie while watching the village wake up on a Sunday morning.

We both enjoy a mix of music and love learning about art and culture.

Music, Movies, and Books

We are into an eclectic mix of music, movies and books. But NO country music!
Big fans of Brit coms, Liz has a small collection.
We can watch just about anything, at least to try it out.
Lon loves reading fantasy and history novels and other than the usual mix of mystery and true crime. Right now Liz is starting on Tim Ferris' Four Hour Body and setting some goals.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lon - Seeing an entire house full of people naked at a clothing optional Valentine's Day party.

Liz - Managed to stay vaguely coherent, though very slap happy, after being awake for 72 hours straight for her very first production of a college student newspaper as editor-in-chief.

Teach, Learn, Share

Liz would love to know what we share commonly in day to day living and what is different. She is one of those people that seems to know little bits about a lot of different things.... perhaps something useful, like what she learned from a friend's mother about how to treat a baby with constipation? She comes from a varied background of cultures and has had a somewhat unique upbringing because of it.

Lon is most interested in the history of different countries, especially from the people of that country that add colour with their own perspectives. Lon can share his experiences with the diversity of cultures he has experienced growing up across Canada. He loves playing tour guide in Winnipeg... and Vancouver!
