About Me

Heya! I am Gonzalo, from Chile. I'm currently living in Edinburgh, doing a semester in The University of Edinburgh as Visiting Student.

I am about to become a Teacher of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) and this is my first time in Europe. I want to live this experience as much as possible.

I'm living my dream here in the UK, and I'd like to extend that dream beyond the British Islands.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am here because Francisco (a friend of mine) recommended me this. As I want to meet new cities, I think this is a fantastic opportunity to get to know people from those places, meeting new people and making friends for the future :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: The Harry Potter Saga, some Liam Neeson films, light-comedy films

Music: Coldplay, some pop, some rock, some indie. But if you have or want to show me something new, I'm always open to suggestions

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- When I was 15, my mum and I gave shelter to a US couple who came to Chile to be volunteer in an English Camp to high school students. They were lost in the city centre of my hometown, they didn't have a phone number to get in touch with the programme and can bearly speak some Spanish words. So, I was the interpreter between my mum and these guys, and we thought that it'd be a good idea to let them spend the night at home as the woman whom they were about to rent was gonna charge them too much money for staying. They spent a good time at my house and my mum and I took them to sightseeing some places of my county such as Pablo Neruda's house and the valley.

Teach, Learn, Share

Undoubtedly I can show my own country, the different places you can go in Chile (from the most well-known ones to the ones that are not mentioned - sometimes - on TV or a tour guide)

I can also teach you some Spanish and some Chilean slang, because Chilean people do use a lot of them (including myself hahaha) if you go someday to my country. If you already speak Spanish, it is a great opportunity to practice with a native speaker

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you let me in your place, I promise to be a very responsible person, take care of and respect your house/flat as if it is mine. I can bring my own blankets or sleeping bag if you don't want to spend extra money on washing.

I can show you some Chilean food or beverages that we have, show you a tipical Chilean "Once" and some other things related to our culture, history and food.
