About Me
Hello world,
my name is Goran. I'm a 34 year old guy from Rijeka, Croatia, where I earn my living as a tour guide for English and French speaking guests. Currently I live in Canada. I spent 7 months in Montreal, where I came with a Working Holiday Visa. In September I'll be leaving Montreal for a one month trip across the US to Vancouver where I will be over the winter.
So... I can't accept guests at this time unfortunately...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
... because I love meeting new people and making new friends everywhere I go ... because it's an excellent way to get to know people that are passionate about the place they live in and are willing to share their knowledge about it. Beats spending the night in a stranded motel any day...
Also being able to host people that find themselves in my part of the world and being able to show them the secrets of my little city. That's why I do what I do for life (tour guide :)
Interests
I consider myself to be a traveler, always in need to move, to meet new people and to discover new cultures. Although I like the cities, every one of them having its own unique story to tell, my true passion is the great outdoors. So every once in a while I need to get out there and refill just breathing the fresh air, and taking in all the beauty.
I like to try eating local stuff as much as I can during my trips. Sometimes pushing your palate to the absolute limit is a great way to understand why a certain culture is exactly the way it is.

Music, Movies, and Books
I really enjoy going to the cinema, from giant movieplexes screening the newest Hollywood blockbusters to small independent cinemas screening only independent movies. There is just something magic about the cinema.
And although I like movies like James Bond series, or Star Trek or Lord of the Rings (I love fantasy and SF), I really love independent movies. Some of the movies that I really loved in a point of my life were: "Duel", "Adaptation", "The Warriors", "The Shawshank Redemption", "The 7th Seal", "Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter... and Spring", "Oldboy", "Memories of murder", "Requiem for a Dream", "Blade Runner", "Fargo" (love the Coen brothers), "Kill Bill 1&2" (pretty much anything from Tarantino)...
TV - Seinfeld, Malcolm in the middle, Black Adder, OZ, Little Britain, Absolutely Fabulous, Keeping Up Appearances (British humor in general come to think of it), Top Gear, - although I don't watch much TV
You Tube - BuzzFeed, Tête à claques, Bref, Palmashow, Extremely Decent
Books - I don't read as much as I would like... Lately I have been reading Michel Houellebecq's novels
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Learning French - I started learning it thinking it would just end up as yet another failed attempt at learning a foreign language where you can barely say 'Hello'. Instead, it steered me towards my tour guide career, to my student life in France and eventually to the beautiful time I had in Montreal.
Teach, Learn, Share
I really love to eat and can talk about food forever. I love to cook, although I do make a giant mess out of the kitchen :)
