Overview
About Me
Hey, I'm Callie! I write and make art for a living. Mostly, I laser cut acrylic into unique jewelry that makes others feel empowered, and I also do a good amount of collage work. Writing is where my heart and soul are, though. :)
Connecting with others is where my passion in this life lies, and I hope that by traveling more I'll be able to learn a bit more about the human experience. I had a Couchsurfing profile as a teenager and had some truly lovely experiences, so I hope to pick up where I left off. While this profile is new, I'm happy to answer any questions that may make potential guests and hosts more comfortable.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We determine our own values, and the sharing economy is one I value deeply. I hope by getting to see the way locals live (and maybe even getting to spend some time with them, schedules permitting), I'll be able to become a little bit better acquainted with the world.
I don't expect hosts to spend any more time than they wish with me, and while I do so enjoy getting to know people, I'm also someone who enjoys a bit of alone time. Basically, whatever works best for the two of us is fantastic!

Music, Movies, and Books
I've been listening to King Princess, LP, and Lizzo almost exclusively these days, along with my mostly-French-classical writing playlist.
The best movie I've seen this year is The Last Black Man in San Francisco.
My favorite books I've read this year are Bluets by Maggie Nelson and Love's Not Colorblind by Kevin Patterson.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was 23, I packed a few things into my car and drove alone to a new city I'd never been to or even seen a photo of— Santa Cruz, California— and lived there for three years.
I also placed third in a jerk chicken cooking competition in Jamaica.
For the best stories, we'll have to have a drink (or at least a walk) first.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love sharing food with others, whether going out or cooking for/with folks.
I love learning from others, especially around mechanical things (that's how I learned how to use a laser and also how to do long division— the education system is broken).
I love teaching communication skills.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm a great cook (and specialize in gluten-free cooking!) and can share stories, meals, and sometimes art, if it's the right match :)
