About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Move through the world freely, bring all of myself into relationship with others, allow myself to truly be seen (without puffing up or shrinking)
Loving What Is:
Integrating the shadow:
Embracing Discomfort:
Sharing the Pearls
Being a father that raises a son he is proud of
I became a father in January of 2017. It was and continues to be an awesome experience.
ABOUT ME
I dunno, I'm just a dude. I like people, making silly faces in the mirror, and I Love words and thought. I use the term poet because it frees me from the boundaries of grammar and coherency. I feel that it is I who is thought, not whom is thinking.
Know how some people ask the question, what would you do if you could not fail? My answer has always been to become a Jedi knight, although sometimes I do swing Sith. Yaknow, chaos and whatnot?
Recently though I have started to ask myself the question: what would I do if I knew that I would certainly fail? When does fear of failure hold me back from doing, learning, growing?
I prefer to find myself regretting having been too open, honest, or sincere, than having not shared my truth enough.
You can call me Jeremy, J, Akers, JerBear, or YourMajesty, just don't call me Pebbles, I hate it when people call me Pebbles.
PHILOSOPHY: Gospel of Change
Change in motion is the most basic building block of reality. Everything I look at is always already on its way to becoming something different, myself included. Life is simply an expression of this change in motion, responding to the context, following impulse, hopefully without overthinking it.
Modern Cosmology tells us that only 4ish% of the universe is within our range of perception. So Love and do what you will. I am a diplomatic sort. I can see the world from a variety of perspectives at once, and acknowledge contradictory views as both being true, relatively, for those that hold them. It is not that I am incapable of choosing sides, I am passionately motivated to express kindness to both. I try to practice the way of harmonizing energy in a world where suffering fuels suffering.
The only way out is through, thus I approach what I fear.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I accept the kindness of strangers, and share what I've got creating good times with great people.
I got back from a four day exploration of Istanbul, where I didn't see ANY of the places/things I expected I "had to." Admittedly, this is my fault for not allotting enough time for such a vast city, but it also had a lot to do with the fact that going to those places seemed pointless in the context of the connections I was making with the people that lived and were traveling through there. I recently read someone use this term which captures it perfectly, Friendsurfing: to visit as though we have been friends for many years and go out as such.
I've had many beautiful, random, and sometimes life-altering experiences with fellow surfers, which is why I want to make a podcast about our wonderful community. So the probability is pretty high that I'll ask if it's okay that I record our conversation. Help me investigate and share the story of what makes this culture of ours flourish
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've surfed a few places in Berlin, Portland, San Francisco, Istanbul, London, Bremerton and the like. I really am attracted to this notion of experiencing places from a local perspective, forget the guidebooks and the beaten paths, I want to see how people really live.

Learned to feel
Met, married, and moved to the NL to live with a special lady friend. Oh did I mention that all took place within three months? It didn't work out but is a great story.
I once opened a Puerto Rican restaurant in LA with my housemate, thus this brother can cook up a mean plate. Go check out Mofongo's on Lankershim in North Hollywood!
What can I say I'm the fool who rushes in where wise men fear to tread, but who else is going to beat a path for him?
Teach, Learn, Share
Yes! I don't have much to offer but a unique perspective from which to see, and if you contribute to a conversation/experience that leaves me just the least bit altered, I will forever be grateful.
I'm a trainer and speaker, aspiring podcaster, writer, and thinker. I'm always on the lookout for how I can be of service. So tell me your passion, goal, or struggle, and lets see if I can help.
