About Me

Ola Surfers and Surfettes,

My name is Govind (Go-Vin-Th). I was born and raised in Canada and I've recently finally finished school and have decided to crawl out from under my big rock and embark upon a road trip from Canada to Santiago, Chile. With me are my two rescue dogs, Adicus and Supernova. Crazy, right!? Or incredibly exciting. I am a Chartered Professional Accountant and also a Professionally Designated Dog Trainer and I absolutely LOVE to volunteer. Most people would describe me as laid back, open minded, non judgmental, a thinker, easy to get along with, and probably as someone who laughs a lot. I am also of the vegan persuasion and love to spend my time doing yoga, at the dog park, learning the ukulele, or learning more about buddhism.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm going to have to steal the answer of one of my favourite CS hosts because it was perfect.

"Because." -Candi

Who wouldn't want to spend the little time we have on this earth together: learning, sharing, laughing.... That's the way to do it.

Interests

Serving people and animals, volleyball, Spanish, education, yoga, motorcycles, music (learning the Ukulele), outdoors, hot sauce, reading, mountains, travelling, LAUGHING….While I wouldn't consider myself a religious person, I am very interested in furthering my knowledge of Buddhism.

Music, Movies, and Books

Outside of my books from school, I haven't done a whole lot of leisure reading (a big regret of mine) so now I am starting with the LOR series and The Unteathered Soul)
TV Shows: the office (USA + UK), Trailer Park Boys (guilty pleasure :/)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This trip is hands down the most amazing thing I've ever done...if I make it home in one piece, that is (fingers crossed). I was student President of my Student association during my undergrad. Incredibly nerdy but loved every moment! Becoming a professional dog trainer while learning how to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home animals also changed my life. Feel like my grinch heart grew 18 sizes.

Teach, Learn, Share

What's mine is yours, truly. If there is something you need help with, just ask.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I've studied business for about 7 years now so I'm happy to offer my perspective or help with value generation or with whatever is needed. I've worked with large multi-nationals, non-profits, and start ups. Happy to help! I also love training/rehabilitating dogs and would love to help out that way as well. And I am a huge volunteer nut so if you have an organization you are passionate about, count me in!
